Olivia's Rice Cake left me utterly disappointed. As a self-proclaimed amateur chef, I can confidently say that I could easily make a better rice cake myself. The lack of flavor was astonishing; it was as plain as plain can be. It had no distinctive taste whatsoever, making it the worst rice cake I've ever had. I've encountered rice cakes bursting with delightful flavors and exciting textures, but Olivia's lacked creativity and most importantly, taste. My rice cake was filled with water that still needed to be boiled and there was barely any sauce. As a Korean myself, it hurt seeing another Korean make such a disappointing snack. Ate a couple bites, didn't even finish it. Save yourself the disappointment and steer clear of their rice cake.

First time trying Island snow which is a bit different then shaved ice. We ordered the Strawberry snow to cool ourselves down but I would like to get some shaved ice while we are here

The homemade rice cakes are such a treat, especially considering that this is something super hard to find in the states and outside of Korea. I've had different rice cakes on different days, depending on what she has made, and every time they are delicious - SO fresh, soft, chewy, and beautifully handmade with good ingredients. On my most recent trip I got a rice cake with sweet white bean filling and walnuts, and the attention to detail is incredible. I appreciated the green leaf she put on the top, made with mugwort, so it added a really nice flavor. If you love Korean rice cakes, this place is not to be missed!

Got dinner from Pearls kbbq and watched 2 Ladies in the back make the mochi with no gloves or a mask. If scared of Covid 19 do not go

I ordered a platter for lunar new year. It was beautiful and everything was delicious! I definitely recommend this place if you're having a party or for a special occasion.

It's always great to try new things, because when one eats the same thing over & over again, I gotta tell you that you maybe missing out on a new opportunity to try something you've never had before. I'm kinda guilty of that, or maybe I'm just a creature of habit??? Hummmmmmmmm??? Well the other day when I was getting my phone fixed at TCA Wireless, I noticed a sign posted by the entrance of Dan Quijote that said - "Olivia's Cafe Ice Cream & Rice Cake". I will tell you that the "ice cream" part did not intrigue me, but as for the "rice cakes"...........you know a few of my Yelp buddies who follow me probably knew I was on a Rice Cake kick a few months ago, where I was going to the various Chinese restaurants to try the various versions of Rice Cakes. I guess I can check off another rice cake adventure, but this time it was a Korean rice cake adventure! I bought this rice cake thing called a - "Rainbow Seol Ki" - as it comprises of Rice, Natural Powder (Sweet Potato, Pumpkin, Green Peas). What can I say about this Korean Rice Cake I bought today? The texture was really dense & chewy, not very sweet, but visually the various layered colors were eye poppin' and appealing! The Korean Rice Cakes were individually wrapped. You can buy just (1) Rainbow Seol Ki for ($1.91), or you can be like me where I bought a small tray of Rainbow Seol Ki (I got 3 rice cakes for $5.50). Not what I expected in my mind for "rice cakes" as I'm so used to eating Chinese Rice Cakes, but I'm so glad I tried something new! Good to broaden one's horizon! :D If you're not into rice cakes, Olivia's Cafe sells ice cream too, as they feature the famous local brand - Roselani Ice Cream. If you haven't heard about this premium brand of ice cream, check out this link - Shop & support local! If you just so happen to be shopping at the Honolulu location of Don Quijote, give Olivia's Cafe Ice Cream & Rice Cake a try!

By the far the worst I've cream that I've had. Even worse than breyers... if I go back for anything, it would be just to try the rice cakes. The ice cream is stale. The woman working probably knew that but still, she scooped it right from the top of the vat. And it looked great. But in my mouth, the ice cream is... chewy? Because It's just been left open with nobody eating from it. I would say the least that could have happened was cleaning the top off so I didn't get stale ice cream..

I am a second generation Korean American mom who lives in Hawaii and believe it is important to celebrate traditions. I love how Olivia's Duk (rice cake) helps connect the past and the future. They have reconstructed traditional elements of a korean rice cake in a beautiful modern way. My family were pleasantly surprised and filled with joy taking a bite. I appreciate how my mom ordered this for my daughter's first birthday (Dol). My mom bought rice rice cake from this shop before and liked it. This rice cake genuinely warmed my heart because it makes me revisit the memories with my grandmother sharing duk and Sikhye (rice drink). Duk making is a labor of love that reminds us the beauty of family and hope for the new beginnings. Pair this tea and you will have a delightful day. Update: Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving "Autumn Eve" that last for 3 days harvest festival sometime in September and October based on the lunar calendar) will be a busy couple of days for traditional rice cake called Songpyeon. This year it will be Sept 30 to Oct 2. Best to preorder and pay ahead of time. Then call to arrange a pick up time. The Songpyeon was delicious and well made. My mom preordered and dropped off it off to family and friends. We loved it so much we ordered more for this weekend :).

This place is super filthy and sticky. They put too much sugar for everything. Everything takes good if you put plenty of sugar. Nothing special. I wish I can give 0 star.

If you want something cold for dessert that is different from the norm, you got to check this place out and try the Korean Snow Ice. The Injeolmi is really good. Very had to describe. It isn't very sweet, light, but not to light, and the textures along with the flavors are not your typical. They make everything fresh and on the spot. The ladies working there are supper friendly and the shop is clean and neatly kept. There is more than their signature Korean dessert and ice cream. They also offer a wide assortments of Korean mochi in small single serve packages to gift or party platters that are decorative and very colorful.
