Amazing quality fresh food, great prices and family owned and run. Staff is welcoming and attentive. Just like going to auntie's house for dinner and auntie can cook!

Phenomenal chop suey pork with soft noodles -- spice just right; generously plentiful on the veggies and pork; pleasant lady up front. Finally, about the most reasonably priced I've encountered. Highest endorsement!

One of the top 3 Chinese.restaurants on the island...never expected it to be but it's got me wanting to return for more. From the outside who would think? Minute chicken cake noodle is very tasty and soups are savory too...(making me hungry again). Glad I was introduced and I would go out of my way to eat here again...parking not that great but lots of take out orders. Must be a community favorite!!

Came here all the time, decent, reasonably priced Chinese comfort food. Rice not very good though, we'd do take out and make our own. Shrimp egg my fav.

One of the old gems that still are in business that survived the pandemic. Quality of food tasty and plenty of veggies ,carrots,Kai choi, celery ,and a tasty gravy to flavor the noodles. The won ton steamed perfect and soft and chewy like how it should be made. There was a lot of take out orders during lunch which tells you it is busy.An classic place that still survives time.

I love the old taste of Chinatown like Tin Tin Chop Suey. Pauoa Chop Suey brings back memories of some of my favorites that I used to enjoy. Some may be "greasy spoon" old fashioned dishes but taste so good.If you are like me and enjoy the traditional local taste and not so much of the fusion dishes then this may be the place for you too.

I recently discovered Pauoa Chop Suey. I've ordered from them three times so far: Week #1 Dinner Plate: Crispy Chicken Chicken Chop Suey Sweet Sour Spareribs Pot Roast Pork Crispy Won Ton Fried Shrimp Fried Rice Week #2 Pork Chop w/Salted Pepper Fried Rice Week #3 Beef w/Tomato & Green Pepper Fried Rice I first tried their dinner plate to get a sampling of different items, and to compare with a couple of other restaurants I've ordered from (Golden Duck & Hoy Tin). I like the one from Pauoa Chop Suey the best, and their fried rice is not overly greasy. I read the reviews and tried their salt & pepper pork chop next. It was tender, tasty and went well with the fried rice. As a child, we often had "beef tomato" when eating out, so today I ordered beef w/tomato & green pepper. It was quite good. Pauoa is my new go-to place for no-frills, local-style Chinese comfort food.

I can not wait for them to resume dining in. Just not the same getting take out. Hopefully soon !

My family has been coming here for years (prior to Covid). I called in for pickup (they only have togo now) of some war wonton soup, and it was ready quickly. There is ample parking and no line to wait for pickup. The inside was dirty, messy and even had stuff stacked up everywhere- I paid and left quickly. They packed the wontons and soup separately which was nice however the soup had no taste at all, not even with the char siu in it. The veggies were old and brown. (I took them out so they are not pictured) I was so disappointed, makes me not want to go back again!

Great Chinese comfort food at reasonable prices! Definitely the kind of local business we want to keep open with our loyal patronage. Loved their pork & mustard cabbage soup and the beef with gailan/Chinese broccoli!

Lunch in Honolulu... After decorating the church with my mom, I suggested that we get lunch from Pauoa Chop Suey because it's the closest Chinese restaurant to her house. Mom agreed, saying that she hasn't been there in a long time. LOCATION: on the corner of Pauoa Road and Pacific Heights Road PARKING: free parking is behind the building which has some apartments connected to it. There's a really steep driveway going down into the parking lot from Pauoa Road. The other entrance from Pacific Heights Road is more manageable. FOOD: it's not a fancy, modern place. This is old school comfort food and local style Chinese cuisine. My mom liked her wor wonton min a lot. She enjoys the extra veggies compared to a regular wonton min. My brother-in-law got the beef chow funn. He didn't let me try any - and he didn't complain - so, I guess it was good! I had the soft wonton Funn which is gravy style wonton min and wide, flat noodles instead of thin, regular noodles. It hit the spot with shrimps, pork, onions, carrots, mustard cabbage, celery, water chestnuts, and won bok cabbage as toppings! Yum! We have supported this small business over the years and I'm so glad that it has survived the decades! Thank you to Pauoa Chop Suey for your service to our community by keeping us well fed!

The best chip suey I got in Hawaii. Different from the mainland but same... If you know what I mean?
