Great food can get take out or eat in, the second you walk in it feels like a hole in the wall. And it is! The food has always been great and a convenient location. If you eat in you get free tea. The soup is great and the chow fun! And good prices for the food. Would recommend for takeout or even for lunch!

I would've given them more stars until today. Today there was a bug in my take out war Gau gee min soup. Enough said. I'm really bummed out because imnunder the weather and normally this would hit the spot. This will be the last time I order anything from them.

Chinese cuisine in Hawaii Kai, Honolulu... My friend from Northern California bought a condo in Hawaii Kai, so I helped her move in and set up a bit. She wanted to treat me to lunch. Her husband was sick, so we wanted him to eat soup. He chose Chinese cuisine over pho - although we almost went Hana Sushi. I had never heard of Phoenix Chinese Cuisine before this. I don't know the Hawaii Kai area, so I wasn't able to give any dining suggestions. I read a few reviews written by my friends. Hmmm... everyone has their opinions... Located in the Hawaii Kai Shopping Center, Phoenix Chinese Cuisine wouldn't be my first choice for lunch. As soon as I stepped into the restaurant I felt like this small hole-in-the-wall establishment could use a renovation. The decor was dated and the office seemed to be in the back area - in full view of the customers. Right next to the table full of paperwork was a food prep table - as if wontons were in the process of being made - out in the open. I asked the female worker where the restroom was (while she was on the phone) and she motioned to go towards the kitchen and go down the hallway. Yuk. I was scared. It didn't look clean. The restroom door was propped open with a 2x4 which was diagonally placed across the doorway. I hopped over the 2x4 to get to the sink. I dared not look at the toilet and rushed back to my seat. Service was not remarkable. Our teapot was filled. We didn't get any water, but we never asked for any. We ordered the Monday special: oyster sauce chicken with cake noodles. We thought that it would be $7.50, but the bill seemed higher and we figured out that $2 might have been added to our dishes because they had cake noodles. After we finished eating our fill of the crunchy cake noodles and tasty, moist chicken with crisp skin, my friend noticed a worm on her plate. We had already packed our leftovers to go. We had been given styrofoam boxes and plastic packages. We alerted the female worker, but she didn't react or say anything about the worm. This seems to be a popular place because there were customers coming in to pick up their take out orders. We were the only ones dining in at about 3pm on a Monday... not sure if we'll be back.

Lovely family-owned place- the owners were sweet and the restaurant seems to have quite a following of regulars. The Peking duck (order the steamed buns alongside), garlic ong choy, and scallop dishes were standouts.

The food had a very strange smell to it, like it's not fresh. The plate combo that I ordered were bland. Took a few bite of the chicken and we just left. Weren't able to finish anything else.

Picked up dinner for tonight. Exceeded my low expectations. Half Peking duck was delicious. Char siu friend rice was yums. Kung pao a little mild mild but flavorful. Overall pretty good for the limited Hawaii Kai Chinese food options. :)

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. The food tastes like it was cooked in the dishwasher. The chicken tasted like microwaved scrub sponges. Cut your losses and go to McDonalds in the same plaza if you want to eat carcinogenic food.

The service was terrible! We came in placed an order to go then proceeded to watch 2 parties come in, sit down, order and eat their food before we got our food 25 mins later!

The Food is great there! They do use MSG, but you can request for NO MSG. And will not use any MSG! We eat the specials!

I was asked to bring noodles to Thanksgiving dinner and that I could order them from Phoenix Chinese Cuisine. So although I was not familiar with this restaurant, I read their reviews on Yelp and opted to order a medium tray of Oyster Sauce Chicken Noodle. The noodles were delicious and we all appreciated how the restaurant sent a large container of extra sauce to pour over the noodles! Winner!

Walked in, only one other table of 2 in the restaurant. Waited a long time to order and then a long time to get our food. Food finally came. Honey walnut shrimp was $15.99, very small portion. Seriously not worth $15.99! All plates were small. Would we come back? NOPE!

I would be giving zero stars but once you actually get the food it's good. Stupid is for going back. Service is hit or miss, mostly miss! Food will be ready in 20 minutes. Get there. Wait another 30. Excuse given, we busy! Tonight, same think. We placed order at 5:30. Come in 20 minutes, so we get there at 6pm, still waiting. Same excuse...we busy. I know what they should do.......CLOSE ON Mondays! Cannot handle more than 3 orders at once. WAIT .... I think our food is ready at 6: 40 pm!!!!
