We stumbled upon the Pioneer for lunch when we walked back from Diamond head to Waikiki. What a delicious find! We got the Ribeye rice bowl and the Teriyaki Beef rice bowl. They came with a pasta salad, large portion of your choice of rice, and a green salad. The portions were huge. The food was made to order and fresh. The staff were all polite, and the inside of the restaurant was clean. Note: No public restrooms for the restaurant.

This is best plate lunch restraint!! Today I had Nebaneba Don. Poke is fresh fish, Okra, yam, natto, green onion on the your choice of rice. Come with Wasabi shoyu. The food quality is high end restaurant but reasonable price Large quantity, too! There are so many menu as Katsu Carry, Mochiko Chicken, Hamburg, Sermon, Pork Shogayaki, Steak... Many many more!! You can eat in, too.

Parking lot is on the left side of the storeYou can park two cars vertically, but when parking, please pull up to the wall next door, as business vehicles come in and out of the store. There are many posts about meals, so please refer to them.I always stop by on my way home from Diamond Head. It was very delicious.

This was by far one of my favorite meals in Waikiki! Ordered take out on a Wednesday night and the guy at the counter was super helpful and patient as I explained our nut allergies and other food intolerances. The food took a little bit of time to come out, but it was well worth the wait. We ended up ordering the miso butterfish, ginger pork and sautéed veggies. The miso butterfish came with brown rice and undressed salad (the salad dressing had dairy in it) and it was melt in your mouth delicious! There were only a few bones, but we pretty much ate the entire thing, skin and all. The sautéed veggies were very good- crunchy bean sprouts, julienned carrots, tofu and maybe cabbage were lightly seasoned but all the veggies were still crisp. This also came with undressed salad and brown rice. The ginger pork was also delicious- it was very gingery and the pieces of pork were tender. This was also accompanied by undressed greens and brown rice. We found street parking on the street behind three restaurant and just cut through an alley to get to the front of the restaurant. Would definitely come back!

Great food, in a small and far part of town. Loco moco is great. Not frozen hamburger patty but hand made meatloaf style . Just ordered first before you sit and no one will give that eye.

Since going pescatarian one of the things I've missed most has been katsu and here come these beautiful people with some excellent tuna katsu to solve all my problems and make the world alright. Truly fantastic, highly recommend even if you're not limited to seafood options. I got the furikake ahi katsu with brown rice and side salad, the rice was nothing special so I'd suggest going for one of their more spiced up options like their mixed grain or the shiso wakame. And don't miss out on their salad, I don't know what they put in their salad dressing but I'm telling you it is fantastic. It's a star of a salad and goes very well with anything you could get off their menu.

The owner seems to be Japanese (Japanese?), and the staff are fluent in Japanese, so even Japanese people can order with confidence.I've been to Hawaii several times, but this was my first time at the Pioneer Saloon. I listened to the recommendation and ordered the ahi garlic plate. I took it home from Togo and ate it at the hotel. There was a nice garlic smell, and most of all, the ahi was really delicious. Although it was served rare, the garlic sauce mixed with the ahi and the rice went on and on.The atmosphere inside the store is also nice. There were antique items on the shelves in the store and I ended up buying a lot of them. There's also a biki station in front of the store, so I think it's a good idea to rent a bicycle.

We had an enjoyable experience at Pioneer. My wife had the ribeye steak and it was cooked perfectly for her. I really enjoyed the Thai peanut dressing on her salad. The Mac salad was good and unique. My halibut was good but lacking a little flavor. Would go back.

This was my favorite meal we had in Honolulu. We stopped for lunch here after hiking Diamond Head (took the bus), and it was amazing. I got miso salmon, and the fish was fresh and perfectly grilled, juicy and tender, and well flavored. The food came out pretty quickly. The mac salad on the side had a nice pesto twist, and even the rice was good. It's a great spot for lunch, and had some fun vintage items for sale as well. Definitely recommend if you want a really delicious plate lunch!

Super fresh food. Asian and local fusion. Fresh seafood. Reasonable prices! They serve alcohol here as well so it's my go-to place when I'm done with work! The workers are friendly and fb service is fast - food comes out fast as well :-)

the garlic shrimp was fantastic! (and im not much of a shrimp lover these days, sadly.) the ribeye was great too, a perfect medium rare. the shiso wakame rice is also worth the splurge (i think +$1.50). order outside at the window and find a table inside! it took a little longer than expected for the food to be prepped, but given how happy our stomachs were, we didn't care. portions are generous. this is definitely on my list for a repeat visit. strictly street parking from what we saw, so it can be a little tricky.
