Red Elephant Thai Cuisine

I called ahead to check if the kitchen was open, and they told me I could come and order, and I had 20 minutes to do so. I arrived 10 minutes later and was refused service, saying the kitchen was already closed. The receptionist tried to persuade the kitchen to tell me it was closed.

We love Red Elephant! Best Thai so far on island and we’ve been here at least 6 times. Well worth the short drive from Kailua! Great atmosphere, decor, and covered outside seating is a plus! We bring family here when they come to visit. Every single dish we have tried we have thoroughly enjoyed. Service is always friendly and fast! Personal favorites are the Thai Basil stir fry with pork, Massaman Curry with chicken, and Pad Prik King with pork. The ginger stir fry and evil jungle curry (not as hot as you may think) are also amazing choices. Looking forward to our next visit to add new ones to our list. Parking is in the back.

What looks like a cozy bungalow from the outside is actually even more colorfully charming on the inside. Auntie is so kind and efficient at serving. Drunken noodles, warm longan rice for dessert and Thai coffee hit the spot and it was, once again, so cozy that we stayed too long after our meal was done to enjoy the atmosphere.

I had the chicken wings and they were perfectly crispy on the outside yet tender inside. On the smaller side for the price but still delicious. I also had the spring rolls which had fresh ingredients and the peanut sauce with crushed peanuts on top added a nice crunch. Lastly I had the tom yum soup which was a little sour (as it should be) for my taste but it got better as I continued to finish the bowl. Great ambience and service had great timing.

Whoa, gourmet food at a discount? That’s a no-brainer even for a guy like me.
Finally, many restaurants nowadays are offering special discounts if you pay with CASH or use a DEBIT CARD for your purchase. They are saving bank service fees and they are happy to pass on their savings to cash or debit card customers. I paid cash so I didn’t ask. 🤙😁😘🇹🇭Flag of the Kingdom of Thailand👍
