Hey, unfortunately this is probably the cheapest option for the value you get when it comes to food in this tourist area. Food is good, but not great. But in an area in which the cheapest plates ever are like $17+ , it’s nice to get a lot of rice and 2 sides of protein for $10.
Definitely quantity over quality but it’s not bad!

During busy hours, forget about waiting for a parking spot. Just drive straight to upstairs, always plenty parking spots!
Shopped the entire store to stock up on food to prepare in our condo sSelections were decent and prices not as bad as we thought they'd be
Right now it’s a nightmare finding everything cuz they decided to change the store around so once it’s done and you relearn the location of everything it will be perfect again but don’t be afraid to ask where things are. I did and every employee that helped was very helpful and polite. I would absolutely recommend Safeway.
My return to Honolulu meant a return to this great grocery store. I personally enjoy wandering around, checking on local, brands and overall prices. On this trip, I stocked up on coffee, cream, locally made Sinaloa tortilla products, and ginormous Big Island avocados for breakfast. Plus locally made items for gifts to take back to the mainland. I think I'm the only person I know that happily traipses around the supermarket on vacation. And I love it!
Had a craving for donuts but couldn’t find donuts. All I could find were mutant donuts until I found Safeway
Grocery time!
This review is for the grocery store - not for the deli department (per se). When I arrived in HNL, I spoke with the agent at the car rental agency. Unfamiliar with local brands, I asked him to recommend a grocery store. Having seen my driver's license, he suggested that I might be familiar with the "Safeway" brand. Fortunately for me, there was a Safeway close to my accommodations; and during my visit, I made several trips to buy groceries. As I was on vacation, I'm glad that this store allowed me to get my shopping done quickly. The parking lot is easy to navigate, and there was plenty of parking on each of my visits. Also, there are some good food options within the same shopping center. The store's floor layout was very much like the stores I frequent in California. So, it was easy to find everything I wanted without having to ask staff for help. I have heard that groceries cost more in HI, compared to the mainland. It's understandable, when you consider the transportation costs. But I did save some money, and experienced a little local flavor, by buying local brands whenever possible. They also had self-checkout kiosks--which I find very convenient. The location was good; the hours were convenient; and the store was clean and organized. I'm not going to inflate the grade--but this store met my brand expectations.
Great staff there. Always welcoming and willing to assist.
Ok for many items. Starbucks inside too.

Overpriced local products...seriously? Who would pay $6 for a block of tpfu that's usually sold 1/2 the price(often cheaper when on sale!) at other local stores???
Hello, I am writing this due to the service I have received today at the Safeway at Kapahulu location at 10:45 PM on October 19,2020. I was trying to buying a gift card and tried to pay with apple pay. What is the point of you guys taking apple pay if I have to have the physical card with me? The whole purpose of apple pay is so that we input our credit card information on our iphone so we don’t have to carry the physical card with us. With the updated technology and version of the apple iphone we are already inputting all of our personal information. They asked to see my ID which I showed them. Do you realize what apple pay is and how it works??? Also, it doesn’t even make sense, apple pay is only used by the owner of the card because without face ID it won’t run on the credit card. The lady’s name is Donna who apparently was the manager of the night. I just feel there is some lacking of common sense here. I am a loyal customer and I’m always receiving different service. I buy gift cards very often. On some days using apple pay is no big deal. Some days you guys won’t take it. Seems to me that everyone is on different pages. If you’re not going to accept apple pay without the physical card then there is not point of any individual having apple pay.
DMV Car Registration Renewal kiosk. Scan the barcode on your renewal notice, pay by CC:/Debit card, and the emblem is printed right before your eyes, all done in less than 5min, yay!✌🏽
Pharmacy hours changed again: M-F 8am-8pm, Sat/Sun 9am-5pm, still, better 📞& check beforehand✌🏽
No one hardly sits here anymore.... all 3 out of four plugs in the wall don’t work anymore!!! Only one works
