We have eaten at Sansei many times over the years. We were really disappointed this time. The food quality has gone downhill. My husband had avocado sushi and one other and said they were “ok”. I had the teriyaki beef and it was terrible! Mostly fat and gristle and very tough. It was not the same quality as in the past.
This used to be our favorite restaurant when we would visit in Maui. Our server was awesome but the food has seemed to gotten homogenized by combing with a steak house. What used to be a staple, the Panko Crusted Ahi, has seemed to have lost its charm due to the infamous sauce it was served with. I hope that the owners read this review and spend some focus on what used to be a legendary restaurant from Maui.
Mediocre service ruined this for us and sometime during the meal, we were told open table reaction was cancelled despite the fact that we checked in and were seated At end of meal, when we went to explain the message we got from open table that the restaurant cancelled, she acted like we had no idea how this worked We waited forever for our check and waiter forgot the extra nigiri we ordered . We won't go back
Every time we come to Oahu we go here for dinner! Lots of options for gluten free & wonderful service.
Loud, no LOUD music. Music so loud our server kept asking us to speak up. Bring earplugs for your earplugs.

LOUD music ruins the good service and tasty food. Bring earplugs for your earplugs. Couldn't understand our server over the music. he seemed nice.
Service was awesome. And each dish we had was delicious!!!
Haven't been to a Sensei's in a long time, was very disappointed to experience such declined food and service. Short staffed, sloppy food, non existent service.

At first, finding the place was very difficult. Sushi took literally forever, and it all came randomly. We had a party of 4 and all of our rolls/nigiri came at different times. The place is quite busy, so I'd guess most of the orders are coming for the steakhouse. Anyways, I felt horrible because I reserved the spot for 4 people and it was an incredibly disappointing night for dinner. Went to Cheesecake Factory after and my friends mentioned the free bread and butter was better service and quality already haha. Don't come here if you want to wait forever ! :)
Split property. You all into a steakhouse look and make a right to their sushi side that has more of a typical diner style sushi place. It was fine but nothing special. Food was good, service was fine. Nothing terrible to say. More about the broader spectrum of restaurants but what is the deal with no coasters for drinks. For this warm and humid weather everything sweats and you end up with lakes of water on your table. This place covers their cloth table covers with plexiglass. Every time you pick up your drink you get a dripping of water on your clothes. Again, not just this place but annoying.
