I'm a little biased because I have been going there since childhood days. That would make it almost 50 years. Not much has changed as far as the decor goes or atmosphere. You just get the feeling of an old-time Saimin restaurant. Which is exactly what it is. It's excellent for what it needs to be. I have always liked it and will continue to go there.
Excellent Japanese Restaurant and Delicatessen. Their Beef Sukiyaki and their Nitsuke Butterfish were succulent and cooked to perfection by their chefs. The okazuya items are ono-licious. The makizushi (rolled sushi) is really delicious and made meticulously the way my Grandma made it 100 years ago! No lie. Locals have been coming here for 4 generations since 1937 or so. We stopped in for lunch.We chose the restaurant side or you can get takeout from Okazuya side. We had Nitsuke Butterfish, Chicken Katsu, both came with Rice, Miso soup, Tsukemono, & green tea. Eggplant Tempura & Undagi, Shrimp Tempura, Sweet Potato Tempura. It was very good! The Butterfish was the star of the show! Soft, buttery, packed with flavorful. The service was excellent and welcoming. The atmosphere is old school with a beautiful garden in the back. Plenty of parking....
