Used to love eating here. Came few days ago and was disappointed. Almost half way to my fried rice when I saw the cockroach. My boyfriend kindly called the lady and whispered about it. She explained maybe it came from the ceiling or something. She apologized, let the cook know and asked if I wanna replace it w something. Didn’t have appetite after that. Didn’t wanna be rude, we wrapped the left overs and threw it away outside.

First time at this restaurant and I'm a FAN! My friend and I were talking story in the parking lot of Kamehameha Shopping Center one Sunday evening and decided to have dinner together. We checked out a few other restaurants in this shopping center - one was too crowded, the other had a weird smell, so my friend (who lives in the area) suggested Sumo Ramen. We snagged the last open table and were promptly greeted by the server. We ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry combo to share, and it came with the perfect amounts of shoyu ramen, chicken katsu curry, and gyozas (4 pieces) for the both of us. The curry sauce was on the sweet side but delicious. Granted, this is not 'authentic' Japanese ramen or curry, but the taste is pleasing and the portions are generous. We left a few bucks extra for tip since we shared our meal. p.s. they do takeout orders!

Food was good … a little nervous whenever I order . Won’t be back after this last time . Cashier lady was pretty rude . I think the cook/owner noticed because he was nice when we left .I first told the lady We were going to sit inside then I remembered my friend wanted to eat outside so I confirmed if she still wanted to. The lady had set down ice water cups for us but got mad when we changed our minds and mumbled something in her language . She was very rude after that, and when I was asking about unagi as a side she didn’t really answer my question and was very irritated (not just language barrier irritated , she seemed pretty mad)…Dont think she likes black people . Second time she’s been rude , I’ve been here 3 times but first time was by myself close to when they closed and was takeout .No issue with culture or race , and I want to support more local buisness . I would be back if we weren’t treated poorly. The food is good whenever I go . I really like the unagi. Just worried about something happening behind the scenes to our food since she gets upset easily. Might come back and be a regular if attitude is better . I would love to bring more customers here but that attitude has got to go.

1 star just so I can leave a review!! I have never experienced such terrible service + lack of quality in the food while dining in, until this evening. Started from my family getting seated, to waiting 20 min to get our order taken ,due to the fact the waitress was accommodating phone orders and walk in orders, I Didn't think much until it came time to place our order, waitress kept talking over us and then proceeds to just walk away when we weren't even sure she got the order correct! Well! She did in fact get the order wrong! My daughter was waiting so patiently for her ramen after the rest of us got our orders & when I walked up to counter to politely ask if it had got written down, she just looked at me,turned around and added it to my "new bill" so rude! By that time it had already been 45 min in! I asked to please take the combo off already- not needed. She said no! it will cook shortly!, I replied "No Thank you! My daughters are sharing a plate already, we have somewhere to be and we're running short on time" she said "yeah"- again, rude! well that chicken katsu, was burnt! Tasted of old oil!! Also, our eldest didn't even put a dent her tonkatsu bowl because it was so salty & the noodles were hard!!! My kids left that place hungry & feeling un easy due to her demeanor! This place will not have our business again! Much Better places in the shopping center! BEWARE!

Parking: It's located in Kamehameha Shopping Center, so there's a lot of parking. I believe there's another location.

Dine in here a few times and this place is consistent. There's really nothing to complain about the times I've eaten here. We always had the same server every time. She's a nice but quiet lady. She always take our kids in to consideration. And I've never had to ask to fill my water. The food is always consistent. If you like curry and ramen then this is definitely the place for you. The price are very reasonable I think. Every combo comes with gyoza. My wife and I usually get our selves a combo and share our ramen with our kids. Usually I order the beef curry combo or chicken katsu combo. I've Or when I crave for it I get the mabu tofu combo. My wife's to to favorite is always the vegetable croquet. It's always good. If your in to chicken wings then I recommend the spicy chicken wings. It's not spicy at all but very tasty. The ramen is a basic char-su ramen but can't complain for the price.

I will never go back there!!!! The Mapu Tofu was not what I expected. It was a reddish gelatinous and very weird taste. Usually, Mapu Tofu is curry with tofu and seasoning. This was nowhere close to it. Service was not so good also. The ambiance was a regular takeout place.

Honestly really disappointed with tonight's customer service. This was a place I would come to now & then to get ramen on the go. Was given the wrong order & when I called back to let them know & ask for a refund, the lady told me no, to come back. Told her it was late and I can't and if she could refund me instead knowing I paid more for my order then what she actually gave me. She hangs up on me. I called back and continued to ask for a refund and she told me come back. I explained to her it was late and I've already driven all the way home I don't want to drive back. She then said keep the food, come back we get your order. I told her no, I don't want to drive back and she hangs up on me. I then called back and told her ok, please have my order ready and I'll come get it. I arrive there and she says "sorry you take wrong order, where the food?". At this moment I could no longer contain my frustration & told her "YOU TOLD ME TO COME BACK AND TO KEEP THE FOOD." She then proceeds to shake her head and tell me "no, you keep the food how I know what you get?". I continued with the reply "YOU literally told me to keep the food & come back, just give me a refund then. I'm here". She then says "No no refund. Where the food". At this point I realized there's no point in arguing with someone who isn't even a decent human being. First off, why would you want the food back knowing that a customer already opened it up? This is disturbing, have I received food that was returned in the past?! Secondly, I DROVE BACK when I shouldn't even need to. Third, if you aren't willing to replace the food free of charge in exchange for the fact that you made the mistake and your customer had to spend more time & gas to get their proper food order. Then at least offer to refund the difference, but this wasn't even an option!! Please be aware when ordering to go from here. I understand mistakes happen, but it was the way they handled the situation that makes it wrong.

Woman working the register seemed very nice and my order came out quickly. I ordered the Sumo Ramen and it was bland, almost sweet. I had two bites and couldn't force myself to eat anymore, sad too because I like supporting these types of businesses but I should have read reviews from other people before coming in.

I called to place an order this afternoon and the lady who answered did not sound like she wanted to be be there. She answered, I asked to place an order and after that she just hung up. There was no closing like "alright thank you, or ok see you soon" she just hung up. I walked in to pick up my order and I guess I was the only one the entire afternoon because as I walked in she placed my order on the counter and threw my receipt infront of me and just stared at my receipt. I was completely blindsided and confused. It was a good few minutes before I had to make out what she wanted and so I asked for a pen to sign the receipt and she said not one word. The customer service was absolutely one hundred percent up there today. Will definitely not be returning.

Been coming to this spot for years! I don't eat here often but it's another good food option located at Kamehameha Shopping Center. This restaurant is located in between Subway and Jamba Juice. Just tried this place again yesterday and what stood out to me was the quick and easy service. I also think the portions and prices are reasonable. For 2 mini plates, I paid about $23 (plus tip). And the plates were filling! I know they can get busy with take out orders especially during the post-work or dinner rushes, but I'm glad they're still in business. If you're craving curry, ramen, fried noodles in the Kalihi area, I recommend! They're also available for dine-in. Lots of parking available.

the food's okay. i don't think i'd ever eat here again unless i was starving and wanted to save some money, and all the other stores were closed. but it isn't that bad, just a little less than average. everything else was fine, like service and so
