Sushi II remains a beacon of culinary excellence, where the fish and shellfish truly stand in the spotlight, celebrated for their intrinsic flavors. Every visit reaffirms why this place is a must for anyone who appreciates the art of sushi.Tonight, the offerings were nothing short of spectacular. From the briny sweetness of mirugai (horse clam) to the delicate succulence of abalone, the rich umami of anago, and the unparalleled creaminess of uni, each dish was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality and freshness. Here, it's not about masking the seafood with heavy sauces or unnecessary embellishments; it's about allowing the high-grade fish to shine, presenting it in a way that highlights its natural flavors and textures.Sushi II is a sanctuary for seafood purists, where every bite is a celebration of the sea's bounty, untainted and unadorned. I urge you to make a reservation and immerse yourself in this extraordinary dining experience. Whether you're a newcomer to the world of sushi or a connoisseur, you'll find something here that speaks to your palate, offering a genuine taste of what premium sushi is all about.

Had a birthday dinner here tonight with my wife (her birthday), and it was great! We didn't order too much as we weren't as hungry as we both thought we'd be but everything we did order was delicious. We started off with the ahi tataki salad (refreshing) and ama ebi miso soup (the WHOLE ama ebi head included gave it that extra flavor). Then we had the sushi moriawase combo (variety of nigiri and tekka maki) and the rainbow roll (California roll with 5 different fishes on top). To end the meal, I had the ama ebi nigiri. You're probably wondering why 4 starts instead of the full 5 stars right? Well unfortunately they were sold out of the "hotaru ika" and "chuutoro", both from the seasonal menu. I really wanted to sample them but either I gotta get there earlier than 5:30pm or... check out another sushi joint to satisfy my craving. Oh and if you're wondering, they don't do anything special if it's a birthday meal. Overall, great experience. My wife enjoyed her birthday meal. We'll be back. Check em out!

The food here is fantastic! A local friend recommended it and boy, was he right! Everything fresh. The Hamachi Kama was huge! And so tasty! Expensive if you want to do it right, but it was worth it. Great service with great recommendations.

We chose the Omakase option (chefs choice) and were served with course after course of the highest grade fish tastings we’ve ever had. Chef Steve assembled an orchestra of flavors from Japanese Snapper, to Needle Fish, Rock Fish, and as a special treat…Halibut Fin. Of course the Toro melts in the mouth and the Hokkaido Uni was smooth as fresh churned butter. And the fresh wasabi! The ingredients were top notch but the preparation was precise and exacting. My 10yo son seriously LOVES sushi and this was his first legitimate sushi bar experience. Chef Steve went out of his way to surprise the kid with a few little extras.Highly recommend Sushi Ii and chef Steve at the bar. Adding this place to our Top Five Must Go rotation list!

Extremely rude staff, waitress and bartender. Would never come here again, avoid this place like the plague. I had to edit my review. Ordered to go... soup, they gave no spoon. The soup was container not even half full.

This has been on my list since I first arrived to Honolulu last year! Glad I was finally able to experience their menu items. Their seasonal fish list is superb and unique, you wont find it anywhere else. I highly recommend ordering by piece and choosing the ones you like (vs. getting the omakase) so you can get other appetizers like I did! Here were the things on my menu: --Nigiri-- Tai - had to try because of the name Kanpachi Kinmedai - my favorite out of all of them. Akamutsu - second favorite Toro - always a must Scallop mayo Hotate - sweet and soft --Rolls-- Negi Toro - would recommend if you're still hungry Salmon skin roll - didn't stand out too much; I would skip next time --shareables-- - Hamachi Kama - aka yellowtail collar bone. A must order item! So much meat and the crispness and flavor of the skin make this a winner - Bone Marrow Eggplant - a popular item that lives up to the title. Must order! - Chicken Karage - not your typical karage. This was like chicken tenders with crispy and flakey skin. Was good but I would skip next time Cant wait to come back to reorder some items and try other fish from their seasonal list

Pleasantly surprise found this hidden gem. Fish is fresh. Sushi does not have too much rice ( which I like ) drink are on point. Service is good and ambiance is just like we were in Japan. Will definitely come back when I crave a good sushi.

Just had the most amazing dining experience at Sushi II! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was cozy and inviting. We started with their unique bone marrow eggplant paired with perfectly roasted crostini's - a flavor explosion that left us craving more! Next up, the Chirashi bowl was a beautiful masterpiece of fresh, vibrant fish atop a bed of sushi rice - each bite was a delight! And let's not forget the star of the show - the soft-shelled crab! Crispy, succulent, and bursting with flavor, it was a true culinary delight. Needless to say, Sushi II has won our hearts and taste buds. Can't wait to come back for more!
