Overall, it was a very good experience and will definitely be back. The service and food was great - the servers were very attentive, informative and accommodating; the chef was great and prepared everything to our liking; the food portions were fine. However, an update to lighting and ambience is definitley needed. For an interactive group experience, the overall mood of the restaurant needs to be modernized to create a sense of airy, relaxed and engaging atmosphere. With the darkness of the furniture and low lighting, it feels very confined. While it won't deter us from returning, a definite elevated change would create an "outstanding" rating.

It’s always a great experience at Tanaka of Tokyo East location! We had a table to ourselves this time which was lovely! We’ve seen the show many times so this was actually a nice change to just enjoy a nice meal. Joe and Eddie were great! Loved Eduard, the manager. Had a nice conversation about the old days when this was located at Kings Village. Thanks again!!

Place looks ran down and chief was hung over our waitress was great, kind and friendly This place needs a makeover or a bare minimum some new paint and carpet this will be the last time im going here dinner for 2 with one drink came out to $138 not worth it in my opinion

We celebrated my birthday dinner with my family at Tanaka of Tokyo, and everything was wonderful. The service was attentive, and the food was excellent. We purchased the birthday cake package for $23, and the staff sang a birthday song for me, which made the evening extra special. The cake was delicious as well. We always choose Tanaka of Tokyo for our birthday or anniversary celebrations, and we'll be happy to return again soon.

My family and i were visiting on vacation. We had an amazing time our chef Franky was very funny and engaging with my grandson, and he cooked our food to perfection. When i come back again next year Takana will definitely be on my list to eat at. 5 stars

I haven't been to a teppanyaki in a long time & tanaka of toyko before. Our server & chef were very accommodating, nice, funny, & a skilled fun show. We actually had a fun time, just felt alittle rushed though to leave. My waygu was delicious, moist & tender at medium rare to medium. We brought a bottle wine, $40 corkage, wines cant be on their list, and of course it wasnt. The manager came to show my waygu piece, offered to open my bottle, but I opened it myself with ooso, it was a 2010 vintage, we did ask for bigger & nice wine glasses, which they had some. I ate everything, from salad, miso soup, a few small pieces shrimp, sauteed bean sprouts, mushrooms, onions & green peppers, green tea ice cream & tea. I prefer the ala moana location than going into waikiki. We will be back!!

What a great way to celebrate a birthday! Joe was exceptionally wonderful not only with his show and interaction with the adults, but took special care with catering to and entertaining our little one at the table (under 24 months), making the experience even more rewarding! Mahalo! 🌺

The food was delicious and our chef, Joe, made the meal fun. The filet was one of the best I’ve ever had, the meat was so tender. The lobster and scallops were also cooked perfect. I honestly loved the whole meal and would eat here again. I also love the photos they take of you and your party. It was my husband’s and my anniversary and we loved being able to have a nice photo to take home. All the staff were friendly from the moment we walked in.

Excellent chef that was entertaining and great conversationalist. We were the only two people at our hibachi so we interacted with him the whole time and really enjoyed it. The food was perfectly cooked and tasted great. The portions were huge, we took a lot back to the hotel after getting stuffed. Highly recommended.
