The pho soup tastes okay with very large portion, tastes like lots of MSG. The rolls were just in average as well. The only things I would recommend are their bbq pork which is perfectly cooked and seasoned and really delicious, as well as the Vietnamese coffee.
When my daughter is at Ala Moana and in the mood for Pho, she likes to go to Mama Pho. They are located on the top floor next to CPK and Tanaka of Tokyo. When I went there with her, I found their menu very limited, and none of the traditional Vietnamese dishes that I enjoy was on the menu. However, their vermicelli with spicy beef soup was tasty. It's one of the less busy places in Ala Moana if you want a quick and easy Asian fix for your meal. It's almost guaranteed seating with no line every time I visited. Just make sure you arrive before 7:30pm because they close by 8 pm. There were limited options for pescatarians/vegetarians but I appreciate the fact that I can choose my own broth instead of being given a default meat-based broth.
