Tempura Kiki was an amazing gem in Waikiki - the tempura was all cooked to order and presented with utmost precision and care. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive and couldn’t have been better. Such delicious foods and great people. I’d highly recommend coming here!

Truly magical setting and ambience when you walk in. You feel right as if you were in Japan with great service and food that is off the charts delicious. The food is prepared and cooked to perfection. The batter is light and you still capture the essence of the flavors without any problems. Highly recommend.

We were sad to find that this place has declined since our last visit to Hawaii in December 2024. Back then, the food was so good that we came every other day. Everything was freshly fried and served in batches.
Because of those great memories, we came here for our first meal this trip, but the experience was disappointing. The food was overly oily, sauces were already added, and items didn’t seem freshly prepared in batches anymore.
It’s unfortunate to see such a promising tempura place lose the quality that once made it special.

One of the best tempura I’ve had outside Japan
+ well controlled oil temperatures. The temperature doesn’t feel oily at all. + fresh ingredients. Shrimp was juicy and well textured. Same as the vegetables + sauce was well balanced. + we dined in with a toddler. Throughout the meal, the server (or owner?) was super considerate and kept bringing baby items (juice, origami) to keep our toddler entertained. We really appreciated it.

Avoid this place!! I have never had tempura that was more soaked in oil, as soggy, as limp, and with as little batter on it. Everything tastes like water, it’s so wet with oil, limply hangs from your chopsticks, and try’s to slide off. Nothing was firm or crisp. Everything tasted the same at our table. Run to a different restaurant. Sorry not pictures taken, left as quick as I could. We told the server we were not happy with our food, and was told there is not much they can do.

THE BEST tempura place. I’ve been to many Japanese tempura spots around the world Japan, South Korea, mainland US, and Vancouver BC and this is still the best one. We come back every time we are in Honolulu. The tempura batter is so thin yet extremely crispy that you don’t even feel like you need the sauce because you can feel the rich taste of the fresh ingredients. The sauce that comes with it is also really good pairing though, and the service is amazing. Everyone has been so kind every time we’ve visited since our first time in 2023. Super fast service, incredible food, and the location is in a food court, so it’s easy to find and very convenient.
