The Original Roy's in Hawaii Kai

Have been dining at Roy's for many years and as usual we enjoyed a wonderful dining experience.

We've driven by Roy's for years, and decided to go there on our “date night.” The restaurant is nicely laid out and we dined in the second floor main dining room. The view of the mountains and ocean was a wonderful complement to the evening. Our server Luke was attentive and helpful with my wife's gluten allergy. She had a broiled swordfish with butter, garlic and their lobster cream sauce - perfectly cooked and delicious. I had the fish trio and all I can say is “Wow!” Ahi was amazing, the macadamia swordfish was perfect, and the butterfish, well, you have to try this!! Delish!! We finished this meal with their molten chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream - another amazing taste treat (a lava cake but who's complaining?!). All in all, a 5 star meal which we'll remember for our next island visit.

Being back in Hawaii Kai and back to Original Roy's was like coming home again. The restaurant, the service and the view from the upstairs dining room was what I always remembered; still welcoming, gracious and delicious!

Had a fantastic time at Roy's. Second time to come here. Brought some friends from the mainland. Food is a little pricey but it's totally worth every penny. It's sooo good Our waiter Bo was phenomenal. He was very attentive and made sure we were taken care of even tho there was a huge party upstairs. Can't wait to come back!!

Ok, took me 2 days to recover from the culinary experience of dining at Roy’s HI Kai & write this review!
From reservation making to leaving, it was so aloha-fabulous! Almost don’t want to leave a great review or I might not get my next reservation time!
Can’t say enough about their GM Brandon. Kind, attentive, hospitable, detail-focused servant, full of aloha. We could tell that his staff also respect & work hard for him.
Our primary server was also Brandon 😂 which made it easy & Kailani & crew also graciously offered service extraordinaire & never said “I don’t know” but always smiled with a “sure, I can help with that!”
Happy Hour pupu menu - ordered 5 items! Yikes! The sushi tempura was so good we ordered twice. Cocktails & wine accompaniment reasonably priced & high quality. Lucked out with a Sakura price fixe menu for two! that was sooo yummy & so well priced that I can’t tell you or for sure I won’t get a reservation.
Mainly though, we can get great food in many places but their heart of aloha & beyond the call service made it a night to remember. Will be back for their local Hawaiian music night too. Mahalo to all! ❤️

Perfect birthday celebration! There was supposed to be Hoku Zuttermeister performing but I guess he was a no show. Service, food excellent!

Roy's Hawaii Kai never disappoints , hostess greets you with a smile and its smooth sailing moving forward with impeccable service as everyone seems to understand the assignment and they tag team like an oiled machine. Food quality is amazing as well. Big mahalo to our server Ken and his crew!

Staff was excellent food was very good. Da wife's steak was over and outside texture was too charred.

Roy's is always a class act. Food and service is always spot on. The managment is excellent. Highly recommend.

Overpriced well decorated piece of cheap pork and insipid sword fish fillet. Should be more customer (and not as much profit) oriented and offer better product for the price. (Like grouper and lamb instead) Desserts were very good as well as the cocktails. Service did not deserve the 18% tip.

We attended a class reunion get together. Everything was perfect...but the FOOD (heavy pupu) was out of this world!

Scott at the upstairs bar, is sooo funny, and personable. Mgr David is a nice manager as well. Food was gr8, and of course our wines...arigats both Scotty and David!
