its just ice with sugary syrup… yeah, i get it… in this instagram crazed world, the bright artificial food coloring is hard to resist. trust me, anyone with an ice shaver can make these anywhere in the world and it will be the same. but travelers are jedi mind tricked into standing in long lines and paying outrageous markups for this extra simpleton desert… yet it is strangely nostalgic, like a good popsicle on a hot days, a reminder of bygone days when just ice and sugar...
My favorite shaved ice in the world. They have the best textured ice and syrup flavors. They only allow two flavors but I’ve seen them accommodate people who ask for three. My favorite is their lychee and pog. Seating can be limited so you might have to eat standing up if it’s busy but we can usually snag a bench. They have more size options for children and have ice cream, pudding and mochi add ons

I like Island Vintage’s shave ice in Waikiki more but this is also a good option if you want more of a local feeling. You have to add ice cream and the mochi balls, so good! Location is in the middle of a neighborhood though so parking might be tough during busier hours.
