Must go to try Sam-gyeup-sal in Hawaii

Decided last minute to try this place and they were able to seat us immediately. They are short staffed, but the two staff they had waiting moved so fast and the service was so good it didn't even seem like they were short. Anyways the banchans were good. And the sauces were good... but the BEST thing was the cooked kimchee. I've never had it before cooked with the pork belly and it was amazing. Would come again just for that. Otherwise meats were just normal. Parking is free and right in front of the restaurant off of keeaumoku. Seating is outside and it's nice cause the smoke doesn't make you smell like a bbq when you leave. A must try for good service and yummy kimchee.

Had a great time here with friends. Cocktails were great, the meats amazing, and the atmosphere incredible. Highly recommend this place for kbbq

This used to be one of my go to places. I thought it would be the perfect place to take my girlfriend and her parents who I was meeting for the first time. Unfortunately a bad choice, not long after we arrived and ordered our food a song starts playing with lyrics saying "come f*** me" etc. This would be fine if it was just my friends but come on not everyone wants to hear this while they eat. It made what could have been a good experience really awkward. Would have left if we didn't already order. The 2 stars is because the staff is great and attentive and I genuinely like the food and atmosphere, but maybe play that music after a certain time in the evening. Sorry to say not sure if I will return.

This restaurant was built for this pandemic. Lots of outdoor seating, a great atmosphere, amazing food, and a very helpful staff. I went to two other places before settling on this one and I just wish I had started here because I loved it as soon as I saw it.

Always been my friends and I favorite Korean BBQ to go! The owner is friendly, the Kpop music is fun to listen and the outside tables are perfect to enjoy your delicious meats

Despite not being ayce yakiniku donday is my favorite kbbq/yakiniku on island. The service is usually quick, the soju cocktails delicious and the meat good quality! The outdoor patio makes for an enjoyable experience when it comes to the smoke not smothering you. Always gotta get the cow tongue here and the brisket. The extra kimchi is all my friends favorite heated up on the grill. 4 stars because I wish they'd fix the restrooms and the service is hit or miss

Haven't been here in years and so glad we finally came back. Their parking lot is a little small and not much parking, but we found managed to find parking eventually. Glad we had reservations because when we got their the waiter mentioned that all the tables were reserved for the night. My friend was craving chigae and mandoo so that's what we came for. I think we were the only ones not cooking meat. Lol but that was totally fine with me. We got their spicy sausage hot pot and mandoo (or as they call it on the menu, "fried dumplings"). And it came with a variety of banchans. And of course we had to get bowls of rice because it's the best with the hot pot broth! The hot pot had a variety of sausage/meats: hot dog, red sausage, Portuguese sausage, spam, Vienna sausage. It also had kimchee, zucchini, round and green onions, beans, and my favorite, the noodles. It was so tasty and the pot was so huge we couldn't finish the whole thing. The mandoo was big & tasty and the sauce was good too. The banchans were - salad, onions, potato, eggplant (I think), kimchee, fish cake, and beansprouts. Surprisingly, the onions were my fav. Our waiters were very attentive. They kept checking on us and made sure to bring us everything we needed. They were very nice & friendly. It's so important to have great service because that's what makes customers keep coming back. All in all, great restaurant and will definitely be back in the future!

I really don't like writing negative reviews and normally when I have a bad experience I will give the benefit of the doubt to the business and just let it slide. I really do try to not bad mouth businesses. But for the second time ever, I feel the need to write this one. This is just unacceptable. I called on a Monday to make a reservation for me and my family for the following day at 6:30 pm. "No problem!" the guy says "Excited to have you." Great! The next day I have another family member that wants to join dinner, so I call early and often to make sure its okay that the extra person (my grandmother) is okay to join. I called 15 times throughout the day and no answers. I didn't understand. Were they closed? On yelp it says they are open normal business hours on Tuesday. They don't have an instagram page for any updates. In the end I unfortunately had to tell my grandma that we would bring her home food. We are from Kapolei and didn't want to risk them saying they couldn't seat us due to the extra body. Sooooo we drive all the way from the west side and get to the restaurant only to see THAT THEY ARE CLOSED!!! huh??? My whole family was so bummed. We tried so many other restaurants but everyone was packed. We ended up eating taco bell on the way home to Kapolei. The next day I call the restaurant again and they immediately pick up on the first call. I ask if they are open. The same man who made my reservation says, "Yes, of course we are open." I say, "Were you open yesterday?" He says, "No we were closed---wait were you the guy who made the reservation for yesterday?" I say, "yes, that was me." He then CHUCKLES and says, "Wow haha I totally forgot we close on Tuesdays when you made your reservation. My bad," So then i ask him how would i know that if your yelp page says you're open and you clearly know who i am. I gave you my number, you couldn't have given me a courtesy call to tell me you weren't open? Or called me today to say sorry? NOTHING. He just says my bad. Could he have rectified the situation? I didn't ask for anything but say maybe please come in again, we'll comp your meal, give you a free dish, a beer? absolutely nothing. I'm not mad for myself. I'm embarrassed and shame for my whole family who had to take a two hour trip for taco bell. Really a shame. These guys are clearly not from here and don't care about anyone but themselves and making money. Brutal. I write this only in the hopes that you have more empathy in the future. People get excited about your food and travel a long distance for it. And to shooo us off like we're nothing just doesn't feel good and is not the ALOHA spirit.

Highly recommend making reservations before arriving. Plan to dine in early bar cause this place gets busy really fast especially around dinner time. Average prices same as other Korean Yakiniku restaurants with table top grills. Parking is limited so if crowded expect to find street parking as an alternative. Dress comfortable cause afternoon sunset makes this outside dining area pretty warm. Food quality was decent nothing really to complain about. I would come here again.

Yelp, you really led me wrong on this one. I'm not a local so when I looked through ratings, I thought I made a good choice. I get dropped off and am utterly confused. There's umbrellas and tarps used to shade this place in what looks to be a fenced backyard...I get seated on a wobbly patio chair where if I sneeze, it feels like I'll break it. The ice chest is right next to the trash can. You know those nice pots and pans you eat from, they're stacked right behind us. Why this city lives in such poverty like conditions is beyond me. Why this is acceptable by food inspectors is also confusing. The employee opens the door with a cigarette in his mouth while doing stuff in the back room where food and supply is stored....That's hygienic. It is our last night in Hawaii so we were really excited as a family. I ordered the kalbi. Huge mistake. $30 for 3 ribs. Since when was it okay to be soooooo incredibly overpriced??? I get being a little overpriced but c'mon. I get more meat from L&L. That's insane. The beef bulgogi is literally child portioned. I split it between my 2 kids and gave a piece to my 2 siblings and I didn't even get to try any. My flame died for at least 5 minutes and no one was to be found. We went to flag someone down while our food sat there cold. The prices you see on the menu are not what they actually charge. They changed all of their prices and charge you whatever they want. I would not visit again if I were local but I would highly recommend anyone who uses Yelp as a gauge to reconsider the various food options in the area. Yes, small businesses need our help but also need to follow basic food principles. Needs to be hygienic, have good customer service, and good value. Neither of which I felt this place had. I have been eating out for this whole 14 day vacation and for the same money, I have been able to fill my family with food all over on Waikiki beach. This is the only place where we left still hungry. My husband fed my son most of his meat so he wouldn't be hungry. He went to ABC stores after to grab some food because he said all he ate was onions and rice basically.
