Came to makai market during my holiday shopping and my family and I were craving boba! Found this spot right in the center of the food court and got the lavaflow ice blended smoothie and it was delicious! The workers were very accommodating and grateful to serve me. And the drink was very beautiful, exactly what you'd imagine it when you think lava flow!

I was entering the food court parched and looking for a drink. Zagu a boba place has caught my little Korean eyes. I went to the cashier and it was a muscular 6'3ft hot Vietnamese man. He most definitely has a profile picture on yelp. I was nervous before ordering so I ask for his name. He said Thomas in the most deep masculine voice. I ordered a mango drink with boba and went to the waiting area. I can't help but notice how amazing this guys music taste is. While watching him make my drink he was so quick. With that speed and the size of his back he had to be a d1 athlete. The service was so quick and when I got my drink he said thank you. Has to be the nicest person I met in my life and deserves such a huge raise. I got my drink and it was the best drink I had in Hawaii. The boba was nice and chewy and the mango was the perfect amount of sweetness. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants a drink.

On my recent trip to Honolulu; I got to check out Zagu. Zagu is inside the Makai Market Food Court in Ala Moana and can easily be spotted and it is located fairly close to the entrance of the food court. I found it to be the perfect location as people tired from all the shopping and walking are sure to welcome a tasty cool treat. They've got two sizes for shave ice; a small for $6.49 and a large for $7.25. One also has the options of adding condensed milk for 69cents or vanilla ice cream for $1.50. For each shave ice; one has the option to choose 3 flavors or get their classic rainbow. Flavor options include Strawberry, Banana, Vanilla, Mango, Pineapple, Pina Colada, Watermelon, Lychee, Raspberry, Grape, Lime, Passion Orange, Cotton Candy and Coconut. I chose to get the small classic Rainbow. It was definitely one of the prettiest shave ice. It however not only looked good but tasted good as well. It indeed was refreshing and perfect for a hot Hawaii day. I got it with condensed milk and I would highly recommend adding this. The condensed milk adds a creamy consistency and a nice sweet touch. Overall I enjoyed my shave ice here and was happy to have had the chance to check Zagu out.

We were eating lunch at the Makai Market food court at Ala Moana shopping center on a busy afternoon Saturday, 10/14/23. After a yummy lunch, had a hankering for ice cream. Didn't want Haagen Daaz so roamed the food court a bit to find anyone else that sold ice cream. I don't come here too often & when I do, I always need to check out what food places are new, closed, or still there. This place offers such a wide variety of different foods, so hard to make a decision sometimes. I came across Zagu Hawaii, which I found out later has been at the food court for a long time. This small kiosk is located by the mauka entrance to the food court not far from Jamba Juice. What sold me was that they sold Dave's Ice Cream, love it - Hawaii made ice cream, yum! This place mainly sells a variety of boba drinks as well as shave ice & Dole whip. I will need to try a Dole whip sundae next time since I only ever had it plain in a cup but for today, it was all about the ice cream. They didn't carry a huge selection of Dave's ice cream flavors but the ones they did have included by favorites. I got a 2-scoop in a cup of ube and Kona coffee. The young gal that greeted me was nice & had a pleasant smile. I told her it was to go but she informed me they did not have lids for the ice cream cups but offered to put it in a plastic drink cup with a lid. I told her that would be just fine because I didn't think I was going to eat it all & I'll have leftovers for later. The ice cream is a little pricey, 2 scoops for $8.99 but for something like this that I do not get often, it was worth it. The ice cream was so yummy. Portion wise, it's good-sized, about 1/2 cup+ per flavor. I was going to eat just one scoop but when you're sitting there talking story....what can I say? I ended up eating the whole thing. Glad there is another option here at the food court that has quick service & good, friendly customer service. I'm not a boba drinker but I would definitely return for the Dole whip and more Dave's ice cream.

Not sure why this place has such bad reviews ! I thought it was really good. I went at 9am and the employee let me know he was still cooking the boba. That was fine with me! I don't really drink boba first thing in the morning anyways and Ala Moana usually opens at 10am. I ordered a blended milk tea with mochi. It was so delicious!!! I will be back again for it. For those complaining about the "powder taste", please educate yourself on making blended drinks. It was very nostalgic tasting for me. The store was clean, the employee was nice, the drink was good!
Not only do my kids insist on mango boba from here every time we come to Ala Moana the kindness they showed to my toddler after a really long and trying day is very much appreciated! Thank you Philip we appreciate you!

I have been trying to get a hold of you to resolve the life threatening incident that happened to my son (in ER for over 5 hours) after consuming a fruit tea drink from your store in Ala Moana on 4/7/23 while we were on vacation in Oahu.I have contacted you while we were in ER and you were fully aware of the situation, took responsibility to pay the hospital medical expenses and has reported the incident to your insurance. However, we have not heard from you and the insurance company. It has been almost 4 months since the incident occurred.Weve provided all our receipts, documents and signed medical authorization forms to Sereenna at First Insurance.Please call me as soon as possible.Thank you,Nora

Boba drink is tasty and good. It’s my always go to after shopping. But a cashier told me I had to order large to get topping for free at my first visit, which I found out he LIED to me at my second visit. Customer service is always poor.

I came here to write a review, and as expected, this store has a lot of bad reviews. This store provides really bad service to customers I bought four ice creams at this store and asked for a cup holder. The employee (An employee with a beard on his chin wearing a black hat and a white T-shirt) there gave me a cup holder and told me to put it in myself. I asked to put the ice cream in the cup holder again, but He scoffed me and shook his head and went back I would understand if the store was too busy but there were 4 people working and the store wasn't busy at all. I'll never go back to a fucking store again.
