We were in line for about 20 minutes already. Once we were at the counter; the lady informs me that a butter shrimp order will take an hour or so because “we just got a large online order”. If theres a large phone order? Do they just not cater to the ones who are lined up to get butter garlic shrimp? Meanwhile im in line ordering for a group of about 10 people(my friends) already sitting at the table all wanting to try their famous butter shrimp. I then panic because now i need to call my friend to ask what everyone will be ordering now since the butter shrimp is gonna take an hour or so (everuone was rly hungry). So i ring my friend but the lady goes “Is anyone else ready?”.. i understand maybe someone else is ready but damn…. I felt neglected and rushed in a rude way . Excuse me you just informed me that the butter shrimp will take an hour. They literally could have put up a sign or just told everyone in line so that everyone’s aware. Knowing that the #1 ordered meal there is the butter garlic shrimp. Anyway so i got my friend’s new orders (something other than butter garlic shrimp) so now i can order. I ask the lady if i can get some side orders of the butter garlic at least.. she says no and says i can only get a side of butter garlic if i order butter garlic. 20 minutes later , i pick up our food at the counter. I realize The person who was in line behind me earlier, ended up still ordering butter garlic shrimp. Why did it only take 20 mins and not one hour? :( i tell my friends im sorry the lady said we cant get butter garlic sauce. My friend says “ill try to ask”. My friend comes back with butter garlic sauces for everyone. Im so confused. Anyway we didnt get to try to the famous butter garlic shrimp

The food is the best my favorite is the sweet and spicy the pineapples and edamame but all their plates are good I've tried them all the service is good there friendly staff and the owners are the best everything's clean there too everything's fresh you might have to wait a little bit but not too long it's pretty fast but it's worth it

An hour wait for garlic shrimp so we get the fried shrimp instead and honestly disappointed the corn has no butter or seasoning looks like it was boiled and thrown in, the rice is over cooked and shrimp is mid

Very disappointing. We drove all the way from Waikiki yesterday only to find out that there was going to be over 2 hours for their signature shrimp despite the fact there wasn't that many people in line/waiting.
We drove back today one hour after they opened only to find out the wait was 45 minutes. Unfortunately, this was our last day on this island, and we have to get to the airport to catch the plane on time. Very disappointing...

Reading these reviews is truly amazing - I hope I went there on an off day, because this was hands down the worst shrimp I have had in my life. They charge a minimum of 20 dollars per plate for overcooked shrimp. they give you “sauce” that is clearly from a bottle. They told us it’ll take up to an hour 45 if we ordered two of the seven things on the menu. Anyone saying this is the best shrimp they’ve had on Oahu, they really mean this is the ONLY shrimp they’ve had in their life. No one was in line and they still took almost ten minutes to talk to me. Their plates are worth maybe 12 dollars max, but the cost to quality never made any sense. Been around since 1991? Should stop in 2024 for the sake of the reputation that North Shore shrimp is the best on the island, because no one is claiming that if they’ve tried this truck.

Waited an hour for the food. Didn’t let us take our plates until they finished other orders. Over cooked shrimp and burnt garlic. Salad tasted old and corn had no flavor.

We ordered a #1 garlic shrimp plate and a #5 prawns. There were only 3 prawns which although huge were not sure if that was a pound.

There was no line today so that was nice and the main reason we decided to stop here vs elsewhere.

I have always loved Romy’s Kahuku Prawns and Shrimp at the North Shore. My favorite is the steamed shrimp 1 pound and the golden fish. So Ono! I do recommend for all visitors in the island to go and try it. You won’t regret it!!!

Delicious shrimp!

It’s definitely worth the drive out to this truck. We were told to come here upon recommendation of our photographer who is local to Oahu. She said they have the best shrimp in the north shore. She wasn’t wrong! The shrimp/prawns are huge and super flavourful. I love that they have the heads on. The crispy fried garlic also makes their shrimp stand out from the other shrimp trucks. The rice was perfectly cooked and was amazing with the sauce and garlic. They have lots of tables and a hand washing station. We’d definitely come back for more shrimp!
