I've been coming here for 5 years and it's unequivocally the best Mediterranean food I've gotten domestically! Found this place through a rec a while back and have always been impressed by the speed, portions quality and price. For what you get (avg 14-20) you get a heaping plate, a side and maybe a drink depending on what you get. I've tried a majority of the menu from the gyros and falafel to the lamb shanks and souvlaki and none have let me down. The super gyro to me is the best deal cause u can get a half pound of meat for only 2 bucks more. Everything comes out fast and always tastes well seasoned but clean with little to no grease. I fell in love on first bite and you will too!

Great place for Greek/ Mediterranean food right here on the Windward side. Delicious and very reasonable prices
Recommended dishes: Super Classic Gyro, Zucchini Fries
humus was old, dry, lacked any real flavor to enjoy. 3 super yero + 1 souvlaki plate were quite good. salad dressing is a bit heavy on the garlic or maybe fermented - had some real bite and wasn't enjoyable.
Omg!!! Everything was soo goooood!! Unbelievable to get this much meat, healthy salad& tasty garlic fries!

We've lived in Kailua for 30 years and can't believe this was our first time trying this place. Delicious food, friendly owner, and such a great experience overall. We'll definitely be back.

Don’t miss the gyro and garlic fries. Greek salad was decent but hummus is not flavorful. Ask for the housemade hot sauce. To die for!

As a Greek, I have to say the restaurant is heavily 'inspired' Mediterranean food. Greek restaurant name, but food is not truly Greek in style/preparation. Ordered souvlaki, was served as a gyro. 6 little pieces of lamb for $17. Souvlaki is meat roasted over a fire on a skewer. Not enough meat for even 1 skewer. Food quality is good, but the interpretation ruined it for me. This is 1 of 2 Greek type of restaurants I have found on the island. None have held the bar. I'll just make my people's food at home.

A family favorite.
Soup is awesome.
Hot sauce is AMAZING.
Owner is usually onsite, hustling behind the counter. :)

You can only do so much in a strip mall, but the fountain makes the atmosphere a 4 for me. Enjoyed our gyros and many choices of sides. Stirred some of the garlic from the outstanding fries into the tzatziki since we like it zinger. The baba ghanoush is excellent. I had enough spread and pita to share with co-workers on day 2. So happy you're close by, Yamas!! Thank you.

I recently dined at Yamas Mediterranean Cuisine, and it turned out to be a pleasant and satisfying Mediterranean dining experience on the Windward side of Oahu. Located in the Enchanted Lake Shopping Center area of Kailua, the restaurant has a relaxed neighborhood feel that fits well with the surrounding community. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels casual and welcoming, making it an easy place to enjoy a comfortable meal without the formality of fine dining.
The menu focuses on traditional Mediterranean and Greek-inspired dishes, emphasizing fresh ingredients and balanced flavors. One of the strengths of this style of cuisine is the simplicity of preparation, and Yamas does a good job allowing the natural flavors of the ingredients to stand out. The grilled meats were well seasoned and cooked properly, with a nice balance between char and tenderness. Dishes like gyros, souvlaki, and other grilled selections deliver the savory and herb-forward flavors that define Mediterranean cooking.
Another highlight of the meal was the freshness of the accompaniments. The vegetables, salads, and sides helped create balance across the plate, providing lighter elements that complement the richness of the grilled proteins. Items like hummus, tzatziki, and other traditional Mediterranean sauces added additional layers of flavor while maintaining a clean and refreshing profile.
Service throughout the visit was friendly and efficient. Staff members maintained a welcoming attitude and helped guide guests through the menu when needed. The pacing of the meal felt comfortable, allowing diners to enjoy the food without feeling rushed.
The overall atmosphere reflects the character of a neighborhood restaurant that locals can return to regularly. It is not trying to be overly elaborate or experimental. Instead, it focuses on delivering dependable Mediterranean comfort food in a relaxed environment that suits both casual lunches and easygoing dinners.
Overall, Yamas Mediterranean Cuisine provides a solid and enjoyable Mediterranean dining experience with fresh ingredients, balanced flavors, and welcoming service. For anyone in the Kailua area looking for approachable Greek and Mediterranean cuisine, it is a reliable and worthwhile stop.

Great greek food and friendly staff. I had the gyro and my wife had the souvlaki. Both were very good with decent portions. The prices seemed fair.
