I heard that Chi-Chan's was closing, so I rushed over to make sure I got some food before they closed. When I got there, they had a sign that said they are closing from Dec 15, 2023 - Jan 1, 2024 and they will be stopping Okazu-ya style and turning transitioning into selling premade bentos. I will certainly miss their okazu-ya!This little hole in the wall usually has a line, but it moves daily quickly. The woman in the front is efficient in getting orders packed and with payment. I went at about 8am and they were out of a lot of things, unfortunately. I guess you have to go right when they open to get everything! The hamburger patty was good. Tempura was also good. They gave a good amount of nishime and the flavor was good. The best part was the hash! It had an amazing flavor and the crust was sooo crispy! I'm glad I got 2! I wish they had chow fun, but unfortunately the lady said they were sold out.... Will definitely be back again to get some more of their okazu-ya before they turn into a bento shop! Notes: Small lot in front that can get crowded. Cash only!

Headed to the windward side I was told about the okazuya called Chi-Chans. Small store but big flavor. Ordered fried chicken, tempura, vegetable tempura, hash, and egg. Let's just say, the best places to eat are usually the hardest places to find. Chicken was juicy and had lots of flavor. The hash was just as good as any other hash. So if you're ever on the windward side, check this place out. You'll be happy.

Take the drive to kaneohe. You won't regret it!Had to kill time before I went to my event. This okazuya had really taste and hot food.Chicken (simple but flavorful and crispy)Baked Salmon ()Gobo (I was only acting cuz people was ordering it and it was actually good but a little spicy)Shrimp tempura (it's not the panko Kine. It's legit Japanese style tempura)Tofu (this one was like some kind of sweet gravy style.)It's a little shop that serves yummy okazuya. This business is ran by a little family. Mom, dad & son. They're really friendly and tries their best to get the line down quick.

A small hole in the wall okazu-ya place was really old school as you can see there was alot of choices and had a lot of parking when I went in the early morning however there parking lot is quiet small so go early then I order chicken and a musubi $4.71 the chicken was delicious and the umi musubi was average . Well nice to see a cute okazu-ya in Kaneohe i

Get here early! Apparently one of the last true Okazu-Ya on Island. I showed up around 930am and most things were already sold out. Remember your mask and bring cash.

A hidden gem located in Kaneohe town. This mom and pops joint has been around for a while. Prices aren't cheap, but reasonable. Food is always tasty! Just be sure to get there early because they will sell out! Pictures are my favorites.

I really enjoy the okazuya from this place. One of the few good okazuya's left on the island.

I'm not from Kaneohe side I work right next to the store and I was just looking at some nearby hole-in-the-wall places that I could stop by for lunch and thanks to the regulars that go there I was told that this place was one of them! I ordered their eggplant tempura, musubi and corn hash at 10:00am or so which is when I start work but unfortunately is when they're sold out of most of their menu items it seems! Impressive! It makes me want to drive all the way from my home in town just to score the other items and hopefully one day I do! Otherwise, I'm eating their food now and ITS STILL DELICIOUS EVEN WHEN ITS COLD, it's about an hour later or so since I picked it up and decided to eat. The only thing I'll eat cold that's supposed to be hot like that is pizza or something but this is surely something else Only cost me like $10! I would recommend

Old fashioned 'Ono Kine' okazuyas are slowly fading as the Papa-sans & Mama-sans retire from these owner/operated establishments they've diligently ran for decades. Chi-Chan's Okazuya is no exception... Once this generation of dedicated awesome hardworking entrepreneurs, leave us, this Local Style Okazuya will not be the same ... the taste, the homeyness, the heart and dedication will be very different. Please continue to patronize & support these cultural icons. Chi-Chan's Okazuya: 5 stars (nuff said)

Run by an older Japanese couple, Chi Chan's is a small ozazuya in the shopping center across from American Savings Bank in Kaneohe. Like other smaller okazuya, there's less of a variety here than some of the more well-known ones, but I really enjoyed their nishime and konbu maki (and nishime is really my mark of a good okazuya). The food reminded me of my grandma's cooking, with an ample amount of sugar to fit Hawaii tastebuds. We also tried their ume musubi (rice perfectly cooked), shrimp tempura, teri hamburger, egg roll, and corn beef hash. The egg was super fluffy and perfectly cooked--I never get it that way at home. It is cash only and closes at 11 am. They make relatively small batches to sell out, so make sure you go early!
