“We have lived in Kāneʻohe for more than 15 years, and throughout that time, we have wished for a local restaurant with great food, a pleasant atmosphere, and affordable prices. With Munga, I finally feel that we have found it.

To be honest, I am often skeptical of pan-Asian restaurants because trying to cover several cuisines can sometimes result in mediocre food across the board. What is so surprising about Munga is that they genuinely seem to pull it off. Their sushi is very good, their Thai dishes are excellent, and we have also really enjoyed their Chinese dishes.

If you have not been yet, I strongly recommend giving Munga a try. I am really rooting for this restaurant to succeed so that we can continue to count on having a delicious, affordable, and welcoming option close to home—without having to drive all the way into town.”

“After my left knee replacement surgery in December 2023 I experienced a gout attack in that whole area of my leg. I was bedridden and couldn’t put weight on it. A decision was made to find a skilled nursing/rehab facility. I was able to get a bed at Aloha Nursing and Rehabilitation in Kaneohe.
From my 1st day the admin office, nursing, and CNA’s were Great!! The physical therapist staff were also terrific!! Love it there for my total of 20days! I was able to get a hair cut too! If I had do it again I would definitely go there hands down!! Plenty Mahalo’s to Aloha Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kaneohe!👍🏽🤙🏽💪🏽💪🏽”

“Picked up party trays for a small New Year's celebration. The food was delicious and all our favorites: chicken katsu, gyoza, pork fried noodles, shabu beef curry. The curry can be messy in a tray but they double-wrapped it in foil to keep it from spilling. It is the best curry anywhere. Everyone at Sumo Ramen Kaneohe is always willing to do whatever it takes to make us happy. The prices are good too. They made our New Year special.”

“Reminds me of being in Japan at a small quaint intimate shop that also serves the best domburi on island. YES THE BEST! Service is always great and friendly, and food is always great! Sometines it may take a while if going around closing time or when short staffed, but trust me it is always worth it. Miso butterfish is exceptional and brings to mind Shirokia top floor food court from back in the 90s as well as Tsukigi in Japan.

This wonderful establishment is a rustic no fake facade ten out of ten I very highly recommend.”

I had an issue with an Uber Eats order from this restaurant because Uber support made it seem like the restaurant was responsible for me being charged for my items after canceling my order. I was under the impression that the restaurant had indicated my order was already prepared, which is why Uber wouldn’t refund me. The restaurant owner responded very kindly and explained what happened on their end, and I found out that this was actually an issue with Uber Eats and their cancellation/refund process. I really appreciate the owner taking the time to respond and clear everything up, which is why I’m giving the restaurant 5 stars.”

It’s worth a try! Great variety, they just added bentos and some new made to order dishes. I’ve liked some items more than others. I can see the effort they are putting in, and I hope they stick around. It’s great having dim sum right here in Kaneohe.”

“Genki Sushi in Kaneohe is the Windward City version of the island’s conveyor-belt chain, and it works best if you treat it that way: a fast, family-friendly sushi stop, not a special-occasion meal. Keep in mind that they do not have a continual belt of sushi circulating the room.

You order from your phone or by asking the staff, and plates come down the belt or ride out on the little train/race car. Kids treat the train as the main event. The room is loud, casual, and usually busy around dinner, with a wait if you walk in on a Friday or Saturday night. Reservations help.

The food is consistent chain sushi at a fair plate price. Garlic salmon is the reliable order, seared and sweet-savory. Spicy tuna, ahi, and anything finished with eel sauce land the same way: sauced, a little sweet, and easy to keep ordering. Fried items hold up better than the plain nigiri. Chicken karaage, soft-shell crab, and kabocha tempura come out hot, and the fried rolls are the ones that feel worth a second plate. Donburi and poke bowls are smaller than the menu photos suggest.

Our favorites were the ikura salmon bowl, garlic katsu, ikura nigiri, kabocha tempura, and miso soup.

It is not the freshest sushi on the Windward side, and service can lag when the floor is short-staffed. Drink refills and the check take longer than the food. Go for the pace, the price, and the train, and leave before the plate count gets away from you. It is easy to overspend.”

“We had a great experience and the food was 10/10. We took our toddler who was really needing a nap and they were so friendly and helped keep him happy. We had the king crab combo. Even if you don’t like spicy, this place has something for you!”

The vents are weak, so you can put the vent sucker right up against the grill plate and still get smoke blowing in your face. Good place though otherwise.”

“My husband & I come here all the time because it’s close to us and close to the movies, and reminds us of home. We have had pretty awful experiences almost every time we’ve been as far as service is concerned, but we continue to go because of the food. We went last night and had the best service we’ve ever had! Our waitress, Nick, was the best! Friendly, smart, attentive, and speedy! And she was good at upselling. She was great and my husband and I kept saying it was the best experience we have had at this location. Food also came out faster than usual, which was awesome especially considering it was BOGO Thursday. :)”

“There are no KFC's left near where I lived so I stopped in. The woman who helped me, Eva, was very kind and professional. Although I enjoyed getting to have my favorite fried chicken again, Auntie Eva made my visit even better.

Parking: There are probably about 100 stalls available in the surrounding lots. Many shaded options as well.

Wheelchair accessibility: There are wheelchair stalls, and ramps available.”

Its cake-doughnut and so soft. My favorite is Li-hing malasadas. Totally amazing flavor and cant find it somewhere else.

“Now called Javi’s. Food was great! The waitress was super nice and attentive. The food came out fast, hot, and fresh. I wish the queso dip wasn’t over $12, but the other dishes are reasonably priced. BYOB at the moment until they get their liquor license. There’s a market next door that might have alcoholic beverages. There’s parking lot is a little cramped, so massive trucks would be hard to park in there.”

“My son and I visited Ayame Curry And Ramen House for the first time this past Friday. We have to be cautious with any new restaurant because of allergies. I called beforehand, and the person on the phone was pleasant and assured me that the sauce would not affect our particular allergies.
We both had Combo Set C. This consisted of shoyu ramen, pork fried rice, and pork gyoza.
The ambiance was casual and relaxed. We walked in just after they opened, so there was no crowd. The greeter welcomed us warmly, presented us with a menu, and said that someone would be there to help us shortly. I asked about the ramen base and cooking oil, because of my shell fish and my son's peanut allergies. She assured us that they use a shoyu base, and would explain to the cooks about our allergy concerns. She was friendly, and helpful. We both appreciated that.
My son and I were already enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, and the quick, reassuring, pleasant service. When the food came we were delightfully surprised.
The scrumptious smell of the ramen filled the air as it was brought to our table. It was delectable to the eyes, as well as the olfactory senses. The gyoza, and fried rice came shortly afterward. All of our dishes were prepared promptly, and proficiently. The ramen was warm and savory. I normally don't like to finish the soup, because it has a tendency to be too salty. Not so with this sauce. It was perfect. My son commented that I inhaled, rather than discarded it, like I usually do. The fried rice was wonderful, an amalgamation of flavors brought together in an impeccable way. The gyoza effortlessly complimented this combo.
With great quality food, service, and ambiance, we will definitely be back here again, just as most of Kaneohe.”

We ordered the Loco Moco, Walking Doritos, a Tropical Acai Bowl, and grabbed a few premade sandwiches from the grab-and-go cooler. Everything was surprisingly good—honest-to-goodness flavor that rivaled what we had in Waikiki, but for easily half the price.”

“I have not had one of these since I lived in California. I feel like they are going away. Still their corndogs beat all. I don't know what it is, but it's not too salty -- it's deep fried to a nice crunch, but still steaming hot and juicy on the inside. Their lemonades are still top notch too. This brings me back to my twenties!!

“A fairly typical Dairy Queen, located in the mall. And workers were nice but they were kids and in such a hurry, too quickly make the blizards, that they did not mix them very well. All the toppings were in the top half of the shake. A good job is better, by mixing 10 more seconds, than a quick mix.”
