“So, I am a total townie. To me, going past Chinatown is going to the boonies. Going to Aiea and taking the freeway is like going to another country where you don't know how to drive. Well, I took the adventure and it was totally worth it to check out this place. Had tried before, but unfortunately, they were still closed due to COVID restrictions. After thinking about trying to go again, I found the time and couldn't believe what I was missing out on all this time. The food is just amazing. I've had Taiwanese soups of many kinds over the years, but their Cow Wow beef noodle soup was by far the best I have ever had. Lots of excellent meat, rich broth and spiced perfectly. My partner had the Fooki Belly plate and I was amazing with the pork that was so perfectly cooked and so flavorful with fatty yumminess. We also got the Grandpa Rolling Beef, which was like an Asian crepe burrito. It was fantastic as well, but didn't really need so much plum sauce on it and would ask for it on the side when we go back again. The place has a certain Asian kitschy sheik to it, like something with a Shanghai old movie feel. They are super cautions with COVID safety and maybe can ease up just a bit, but I do appreciate their efforts to keep themselves as well as their dinners safe. If this place were to open up another location in the Honolulu area, I would probably be there way to much. Maybe it is a good thing that they are out of my normal travel comfort limits, so that it makes it extra special when I go back again for their amazing food.”
“The food we ordered was yummy and definitely we will be back! And the service was excellent…👍🏼🤙🏻👌🏻👏”

“Best food truck on the island. Hell his food is better than 95 percent on this whole island. The food is fresh, made right there in front of you. Great customer service and doing it all by himself. Yeah you gonna wait but the time he spends preparing your food is worth it. My first time trying his truck and BOY when I tasted his food im hooked .Don't go to these other trucks on the island go to Heaven Soul Food Truck in Waikiki. He needs 5 more trucks like this He need his own restaurants. That's how good it is.”

“If you're looking for some roast pork, chicken or duck come here. It's a pick up and go place so don't expect a place to sit unless you find some outside in the plaza. If you're looking for simple, great tasting roasted meat on rice or crispy noodles this is the place. It's simple and delicious. The menu isn't extensive. Other than those roasted meats there's also ginger chicken that I particular love.
The cost of the food here is a great value as well. Each plate I got was enough to feed 2 or 3 people. I would recommend getting a mix of the meats and share. It was all good.”
“Legit Thai food in Waimalu shopping center across from Safeway. Pricey but felt worth it. Not crowded, good selection on menu, everything tastes fresh. Fried chicken an unexpected standout.”
“My husband and I spent 24 hours in Honolulu and discovered this wonderful Thai Bistro! The service was very friendly and attentive to our preferences. We ordered spring rolls, brown rice, Penang chicken curry, and green curried chicken. Oh, the flavors were perfectly blended! It’s the best Thai food we’ve had outside of Thailand. We highly recommend Thai Bistro Suksabay!”
“Met Dee today when we stopped in for her delicious candy apples and chocolate dipped strawberries. She is an absolute sweetheart! Everything was so amazing! Apples and strawberries were fresh and we’re so beautiful I didn’t want to eat them. I’m down in Las Vegas on vacation and I’m definitely gonna stop before I leave back home.”

“I cannot believe it took me over SEVEN years on island to finally eat here—like, how did I miss this?! This spot in Aiea is a total hidden gem and exactly what I’ve been craving ever since my trip to Singapore. It’s similar to mala tang in that you get to pick your own veggies, meats, seafood, etc. to build your soup. The broth options are a little different though—no mouth-numbing mala like you’d find at YGF Mala Tang—but honestly, I didn’t mind one bit.
The spicy pumpkin soup base was perfection: creamy, flavorful, with just the right kick. It didn’t overwhelm my palate or leave me feeling heavy, and it tasted cleaner (less oily) than other broths I’ve tried. If you’re into creamy soups, the pumpkin base is a must-try!
Service was solid too. They refilled my water without me asking and even let me choose my seat (I was the first customer before the evening rush lol). The space was roomy, spotless, and you can tell it’s a true mom-and-pop operation—genuine care for both the food and the customers.
I’m already planning to come back this week because I cannot stop thinking about that pumpkin soup.
Oh, and if soup isn’t your thing (or if Hawaii’s heat has you craving something else), they’ve got chicken katsu with curry, stir fry, and other specialty dishes too.
VISIT. Seriously.”
“I came here with two of my girlfriends for a very anticipated late night dinner after a long day. We all liked our food— I ordered the vegetable ramen with miso broth, my friend got the spicy pork ramen, and my other friend got the tonkatsu— the portions were good, price was good, and the service was stellar. They played a small game with me at the end after I paid for the check, where I won a bar of soap & I thought that was so cool and a cute way to end the meal!!!! I would definitely come back here again. One of the few places open late on this side of the island as well!”
“Uncle’s Fish Market Bar & Grill was a nice, relaxed stop for us. When we walked in, it wasn’t very crowded, which made the atmosphere feel calm and laid back.
We ordered the ahi trio as an appetizer, and it was really good, a great way to start the meal. Our food did take about 30 minutes to come out, but we didn’t mind too much since we had a couple of drinks while waiting.
Speaking of drinks… they were strong 😅 (I forgot the exact names, but they definitely did the job). Overall, good food, solid drinks, and a chill vibe. Worth checking out if you’re in the area and not in a rush.”
“This has to be one of the best Italian restaurants that have ever eaten in.
There is plenty of hot bread and butter but EVOO to dip the bread in.
The food and gravy taste homemade.
They offer full or small plates on most dishes.
Being raised in an Italian household with a mom who was a tremendous cook, this place is a close second.
Highly recommend this out of the way place.
Reservations aren't required, but on the weekends, highly recommended.”
“Ate there today.. best BBQ pork I’ve had here on Oahu. Hawaiian sauce was wonderful and baked beans were simmered with tiny pieces of jalapeños, had a slight delicious kick. Wedge salad… heavenly. i”

“This is my go-to spot after I get my hair cut at nearby Major League barber shop. The food, service, and atmosphere are all top-notch. I've had the pollo asada and the chorizo & egg tacos, both with rice and beans. 🤤 This is a Veteran/family owned business that takes their food creations and customer relations seriously. It is also SoCal Mex based flavor-wise and takes me back to the neighborhood taco shops in L.A. and San Diego. I look forward to eventually trying everything on the menu.”
“recently visited Jackie's Diner, and it turned out to be a dependable neighborhood diner that captures the comfort and familiarity people expect from classic local breakfast and lunch spots. Located along Kamehameha Highway in Aiea, the restaurant has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that feels very much like a community gathering place. The space is straightforward and comfortable, with the kind of casual environment where regular customers and first-time visitors can both feel at ease.
The menu focuses on classic diner-style comfort food, with a strong emphasis on breakfast favorites and hearty plate-style meals. Items such as omelets, pancakes, fried rice, and other traditional diner staples make up much of the selection. The portions are generous and designed to be filling, which is typical of local diners that serve both residents and workers looking for a satisfying meal to start the day.
One of the highlights of the meal was the breakfast selection. The eggs were cooked properly, the pancakes had a light texture, and the savory dishes carried the familiar flavors that define classic diner cooking. While the presentation is simple, the focus is clearly on delivering consistent comfort food rather than elaborate plating.
Service during the visit was friendly and efficient. The staff maintained a welcoming attitude and helped keep the dining room moving at a comfortable pace. Diners like this often succeed because of their sense of familiarity and hospitality, and Jackie’s Diner maintains that approachable atmosphere well.
Another appealing aspect of the restaurant is the sense of community it creates. Many local diners become regular meeting places for residents, and Jackie’s appears to have that same role in the Aiea neighborhood. The environment encourages relaxed conversation and unhurried meals, which adds to the overall experience.
Overall, Jackie’s Diner delivers a solid and satisfying diner experience with dependable comfort food, generous portions, and welcoming service. It is the kind of place people return to for familiar flavors and a relaxed neighborhood atmosphere.”
“I think I’d lowkey boycott Pearl ridge if they boot this restaurant.
I used to work at this mall across from this plot, and Pearl ridge used to lease this plot to all kinds of different restaurants. I was never really interested in trying Lassons but my mother asked me to meet her here for lunch one time. That was all it took for me to constantly think about this place and their food. I kept coming back and kept coming back for more I still can’t stop coming back here. I had the pleasure of meeting who I think was the owner and let me tell you he’s the nicest most generous restaurant owner I’ve ever met!! Encouraged me to try other things on the menu I didn’t even THINK I’d like everything is hands down amazing, I’m not a pork eater but he asked me to “just try” the spicy pork and holy SHIT my eyes rolled to the back of my head it was so good!!!!! Definitely a hidden Gem and as long as Pearl ridge keeps leasing to them ima keep coming back 🤍🤍🤍🙏🏼”
“CeCe Patisserie offers outstanding customer service going above and beyond! I highly recommend checking out her tasty treats. They provide catering and delivery for gifting goodies as well! My experience with CeCe Patisserie was by far one of the best customer experiences I have had! 🌺”
“I must admit, I had the pleasure of dining at three highly-rated Korean BBQ restaurants this week, and this place truly stood out as the best. Unfortunately, yesterday they were closed, so I visited Soons instead. However, the food there was quite disappointing. As the saying goes, “You pay for what you get!” If you’re looking for delicious food and generous portions, I highly recommend Young’s. This place is simply unbeatable!”
“Staff was very courteous and professional- great service and good value along with the value Overall a great place for a pretty healthy dinner”

“Used to pick up a lot of orders for Door Dash from this restaurant but gave it a try myself today and glad I did! Food was delicious and all freshly made. I ordered the Tempura roll, Rainbow roll and Negi hama bento. The chef added an extra piece of fish on the Negi hama and a whole ahi roll for free! (Greatly appreciated). The free hot green tea is a nice touch also for sure. Will be back for sure the next time sushi calls to me.”
“Food 5 ⭐️ portion is great, tasty, broth is clean and light.
Service 5 ⭐️ very attentive and accommodating.
Atmosphere 5 ⭐️chill, I feel relaxed eating, and they have working ac.
Must try their oxtail pho! Oxtail has a lot meat and pcs. So far I have not had highblood when I finish my oxtail pho which is good that’s why I keep coming back. I know that when I finish my bowl I won’t have any problems (but that’s my experience). Pho Time is my go to for oxtail pho, bun bu hue, and pho in general.
*i’m not sponsored or paid in any shape of form. Just a loyal customer who loves their food 😁”
“This food is EXCELLENT. Got #20: chicken and beef, with sides of seaweed, noodles, cabbage, bok choi, rice, gyoza. It was DELICIOUS. If my stay here was longer, I would be back for sure. The owner was so nice. He gave my sisters and I complementary mango drinks which were so fresh, real and delicious. Support this awesome business!”
“Mamaya continues to be a go-to spot for good-quality, reasonably priced bentos. One of the best perks is that (if I recall correctly) any purchase around $10 or more comes with a free bottle of water. They also offer a punch card loyalty program—though I unfortunately lost mine with three stamps on it!
The shop is clean and well-organized. You start on the right side and walk around the displays to select your bento. The service is consistently friendly, and depending on the day or occasion, they’ve even been known to give out a free single spring roll with your meal.
They have a massive variety of bentos to choose from, with white and multi grain rice options available, ranging from classic local favorites to more traditional Japanese styles. On this visit, I went with the Chicken Katsu-don. For right around $10, the portion and quality were excellent. It’s definitely worth the price.
Whether you're looking for a quick lunch or a reliable dinner to take home, Mamaya is a fantastic value. Just try not to lose your punch card like I did!
Note: This is a strict grab-to-go restaurant. There are no tables and chairs to hangout.”
“The staff are wonderful and my twins 👯♀️ got to order pizzas to bake at home 🏠 it made them really happy”
“Affordable price for buffet lovers. Valet parking is reasonable... Lots of choices to choose from... all you can eat for a price you will never regret...”

“Great pizza place. You'll get a quarter of a pizza which ends up being about 2 slices for about $11 depending on which pizza you get with different toppings. You'll get to choose and they'll reheat it up for you in the pizza oven.
Quick, easy, and tasty. Highly recommend if you are craving pizza.”
“I was visiting Pearl Harbor and was craving an avocado smoothie. I found this place nearby on google maps and decided to give it a try. The avocado smoothie tasted great, very fresh and creamy, and they also offer a boba option. The portion size is generous for the price. Just a heads-up: if your total is under $10, remember to bring cash, as cards are only accepted for purchases over $10. Overall, a great stop for a refreshing smoothie!”
“Tea Cafe in Tea Cafe is a quick stop for drinks but comes with a few small annoyances. Parking is handled through an app and is supposed to be free for the first two hours. Somehow I still got charged $9.99 which felt bogus and instantly took some of the joy out of what should have been a simple visit.
The shop itself is pretty small so it feels more like a grab your drinks and go kind of place rather than somewhere you hang out for a while. Drink prices range from about $4.50 to $9 depending on what you order which feels fair for boba and specialty drinks. Drinks were delicious!
We tried the watermelon pina colada chocolate and Thai tea. All of them were good and refreshing with the Thai tea being the standout. The flavors were solid and exactly what you want when you are craving something sweet and cold.
Tea Cafe does the job if you are in the area and want a variety of fun drinks. Just double check the parking situation so you do not accidentally turn a boba run into a $10 surprise.”
“Very friendly staff and good music, menu is also very easy to understand and have a lot of options. Plenty parking outside and they have convenient hours. Place looks very clean and have options for sitting. Today I tried the cocoa lover with and added some lychee, it is so delicious and refreshing, will definitely come back to try more of their teas.
Parking: Access from kaahumanu street”
“We eat here at least twice a month. Food is always fresh and service is normally fast and friendly. The restaurant is fun and you order from your mobile device and the food is delivered via a train system that runs along the tables. I feel the prices are fair and they have the best French fries! Only complaint would be that this location is always very busy and we usually have to wait 15-30 minutes for a table.”
“It’s still taste the same when it first open till now…..gooooddddd!!!”
“Great place, better than most in Waikiki. Well worth trying out. The food was excellent and service was the best we have seen in a long time on island. Wife had the Chefs Special of Veal and Shrimp in caper wine sauce, I had Veal With marsala and mushroom sauce. Both delicious and well prepared. I highly recommend Paisanos!
The one downside is for the older hostess, she first tried to seat us in the back facing the toilets. That's always going to be a no go. The place was nowhere near full so ...in most restaurants; if the place isn't full, those are the last seats to fill, that almost set the tone for this review. Because usually first impressions are everything. Otherwise we had the best table service we've had on island in over 20 years. Bonus, the food was great too.”
“Went here with a couple friends for the first time and it is fairly expensive, looking at the prices, luckily the lead of the bridal party was paying since she made the reservation, otherwise this is one place I wouldn't have been able to touch for a while. As for the food, it's good. It's just your simple hot pot, we went for the basic ichiriki soup base with the PorkZilla Nabe.”
“seen this place on tinytvs Instagram. so me and my other half went to try it out. omg best fried chicken wings ive had on island , hands down!”
“I very unfortunately placed an order at this location from Pennsylvania. Clearly a mistake of my own. After waiting 6 hours (due to the time difference) I called to cancel the order and the Assistant General Manager was so kind and understanding. To be fair, I can’t speak for this locations food or atmosphere, but I can say the service was quality!”

“I lived in Korea for six years. It’s hard to find that perfect beef and leaf joint you remember from your Sam gyup sal days in Korea, but this place can do it.#1. The staff is great. I enjoy seeing them every time I go.#2. They have the soju, the Korean beer, the makgeolli.#3 The BBQ is on point, the sides are delicious and the kimchi is always great. If someone doesn’t like this place, then they don’t like real Korean food. Plain and simple.”

“Frostcity is a great stop if you are craving something cold and sweet.
There is plenty of seating inside which makes it easy to relax and enjoy your dessert instead of rushing out the door. The shaved ice has great flavor and you can tell they put some care into the combinations.
They also offer dairy free options which is a nice bonus if you are avoiding milk based desserts. Another fun touch is the stamp club, which gives you a reason to come back for repeat visits.
One of the best perks is the free sides like mochi and fruit that come with the dessert. It adds a little extra variety and makes the whole treat feel more special.
Overall Frostcity is a fun dessert spot with lots of seating, strong flavors, and some nice extras that make it worth stopping by.”
“Had no idea this was in the mall when I looked up shaved ice places. But I really wanted shaved ice while I was in Hawaii and this one looked really good. It do not disappoint other than the location.
I got the mango cheesecake ice wave and subed the ube vanilla swirl soft serve”
“Head to Halawa and grab some lunch at Bombuchaz. We ordered the hamburger steak plate and the #3 special with beef stew, chicken long rice, and pan laulau. Yummers! The stew uses short ribs which made it even better. The flavors was spot on. We went there at 10:30 so only had about 3 people in line. I've heard they sell out so get there early and get your grub on!”

“Excellent little hole in the wall! I have celiac disease and the waitress knew everything about what I could not eat and informed me that the chef himself has celiac! She was so kind to my friend and I. Highly recommend stopping by!”
