Well worth the wait. Very friendly and patient staff.
I apologize because I confused you with another coffee company :(
You all were so amazing during COVID with us HUNGRY HOMELESS HERO delivery volunteers.
Thank you 🙏 so much for your hospitality 🙌 Aloha 🤙🏽
Very disappointed this local company doesn’t prioritize the health of our local community. ZERO employees wearing masks at any location - was told “our boss doesn’t believe in it”. As a Maui Frontline Healthcare Provider for over 20 years, I’m hurt this company doesn’t have our backs, when we are risking our lives for theirs. Never mind the complete violation of County Emergency Public Health Rules. 👎🏻

Akamai Coffee Co. is a popular coffee spot in Kihei, Maui, known for its excellent coffee and espresso drinks. The staff are happy, upbeat, and accommodating, even with special requests. Customers appreciate the local atmosphere and the welcoming attitude of the team. The coffee is praised for its delicious flavor, with the Road to Hana specialty drink being a highlight. Inside, the shop is light and bright, decorated with many plants, creating a cozy and inviting environment. There is a merchandise area and plenty of seating, making it a good place to work or relax. The shop has a drive-thru and a parking lot in the back for convenience.
The menu offers a variety of drinks, including the popular coconut macaroon and Hula Girl drinks. Customers enjoy the quality of the coffee, noting its rich flavor, although some mention that the texture can vary, especially when using dairy-free alternatives like coconut milk. Several visitors praise the smoothness and flavor balance of drinks such as the Hawaiian Honeybee (with coconut, vanilla, and honey) and the surfer girl latte (with caramel and macadamia nut). Seasonal options are also available, like the bougie bee with lavender and the road to Lahaina with white chocolate, mac nut, and toffee nut, which are generally enjoyed, though some customers find certain flavors too strong or busy.
Despite limited food options, many find the treats like coconut macaroon yummy, and some visitors have bought coffee beans to take home. The atmosphere emphasizes personal human connections, with no wifi available, making it a warm, friendly space. Staff are happy to recommend drinks, and the overall experience is highly positive, with many customers planning to return to try other seasonal drinks. The shop’s inviting ambiance, good service, and high-quality coffee make it a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
