Great food and service.

This was one of the best semi-formal dining experiences in Kauai island. Great interior with various rooms and a great bar area. You can choose where you want to dine to suit your level of interest. Highly recommend you make a reservation, it’s a popular place and this way you avoid waiting. Service was fantastic and at the level fit for this type of dining. Our cocktails and drinks were fantastic, the menu is well curated. Food was the star of the show. Great portions, you could even share a main if you wanted to. Great flavors and cooked right. Braised beef was falling off and super delicious. The blackened mahi was superb - cooked just seared. The atmosphere is lovely, on quiet side so you can actually hear each other without screaming across the table. Lit but not too bright, soft and welcoming mood for a romantic evening. Made it to my replay list - hope you enjoy it too! Aloha 🌺

To the owners: your new hostess (the young local one) is going to cost you money in lost patrons. We walked in at 8pm (restaurant doesn’t close til 8:30), the hostess failed at the following:
- did not greet us upon entry
- when she did walk to her podium, she failed to say “hello, welcome”
- she did not make eye contact
- she did not greet us
- she did not smile once
- she did not ask us if we wanted a table
- we, refusing to speak because she herself refused to speak to us, simply raised 2 fingers to signify we wanted a table for 2
- when she dropped off our waters on the table she failed to say anything and simply clanked the glassware on the table and left.
A note to the owner: your restaurant closes at 8:30pm…your employees must welcome your customers until you’re closed…we arrived 30min prior to closing, not 2 minutes prior. 8pm is an acceptable time to walk in. This hostess is not representing your restaurant well. She is not valuing your customers and the people who make it possible that she has a job. The sole job of a hostess is to greet your customers, be the first point of contact and seat tables. As the first point of contact, she established that we were not welcomed in your restaurant. How will you handle this?

It had been a long time since my last visit, and this restaurant is just as wonderful as I remembered. The atmosphere is cozy, welcoming, and full of good energy. Nearly every dish on the menu is outstanding. Even though meat dishes aren’t usually my favorite, the flavors here easily won me over — truly deserving of five stars. Highly recommend stopping by! With plenty of fun places nearby, it’s perfect for a meal and a little exploring before or after.

Such a cute place! The vibe was great, upscale and laid back at the same time. We were seated quickly and the food came out in a very reasonable time as well. The pork chop and kalbi beef were delicious. Service was great!

This place is incredible. Staying at a resort and got off property on a local’s recommendation and it couldn’t have been better. Friendly, well run, great food. Do it.

Food was pretty good but the service was definitely lacking. The hostess, who is on the younger side, never greeted us when we walked in, asked our name when we mentioned we had a reservation, smiled at us, or even acknowledged us as we left the restaurant. At one point she dropped a drink off at our table and when I thanked her, she didn’t even look at me. If you can’t smile, greet, or acknowledge your customers consider a different industry. The waitress was fine, although she checked on us only once during our entire meal. The chicken Marsala, fish of the day, and fettuccine were all was good. Cocktails were ok. Wouldn’t return in the future.

We came here for a cocktail while waiting for our takeout. They have tasty drinks and the staff is friendly!

I explained many times to the waitress that I have I have celiac (gluten free), and also have a potato allergy and I wanted to order the ribs. For the side she recommended the salad since I can't have fries, and I said no croutons since they contain gluten. The ribs were delicious and I will be back for them, but as I was already halfway through eating my salad I noticed two small croutons hidden under some of it. I don't know if they premake the salads and just picked off the croutons or what, but the salad is definitely not celiac safe if that is the level of care you put into making them safe for people with food allergies. We deserve to eat out just like everyone else and just like with any medical condition we are allowed to ask for accommodations.

Don’t sleep on The Bistro Kilauea happy hour. The food and drinks were delicious. We had the Na Pali Pear Martini (best martini I have ever had), fish rockets, ribs, chicken, and burger. Everything was so good. Cassie was also great!
