Eating House 1849 Koloa

My wife has a food allergy. The entire staff made us feel so safe. They even made from scratch a dish that usually is prepared in advance so that she could eat it. Not only was everyone so thoughtful but the food was outstanding. Her butterfish and my burger were among the best we have ever had. What a great way to start our vacation.

Frustrated- we had a reservation, requested with a view. I realize no guarantee . Arrived two minutes before six. A couple walked in just in front of us without a reservation, were seated (before us) at a table just inside without a view. They declined the table and were sent to the inside table with ocean view and then we were given the bad table! What even was the point of having made a reservation? Then we waited at the bar for 15 minutes to get a somewhat better partially obstructed table. No apologies, no comp, just attitude.

We were seated at the best table I'd say! Front and center by the railing-exceptional! Our waiter, James maybe? (Sorry can't remember his name for certain) was truly wonderful! It was such a great experience-from the hostess, wait staff, view, cocktails, food, always full water glasses, etc! I can't fault a thing!

Great food and service !! The Sashimi was fantastic and the butter fish was off the hook !! We'll be back next time we're here !

The food and service are always amazing. I absolutely love the ramen bowl. Beautiful sunset view. Fun location, we like to walk around the shops or get ice cream at Lapperts after dinner. It does get a bit frustrating when you have to wait for a table, even with a reservation and plenty of open tables inside.

Fantastic food overall but the service was very slow and the attention to detail was not there..

Location and ambience were nice. Price was pricey for quality of food. Steak was super salty. Paella was salty. Steamed Onaga was best dish of the three that we ordered.

Our server Dante was very good, that guy can really sell that menu! Food was good, chocolate desert was amazing. Highly recommend, get a reservation, it fills up fast.

The menu is very limited and items are very expensive. We felt the food and atmosphere did not warranty the prices. We have been to other Rot restaurants and found them much better.

Ordered misoyaki butterfish and braised short ribs and both were amazing! Also incredible chocolate lava cake freshly baked when ordered. Great service too.

Beautiful atmosphere and great views. Our dinners were very tasty and the wait staff were excellent. Will definitely return on our next trip back

A friend on Kauaʻi recommended that we go to this restaurant. We were not disappointed. We ordered the crab and corn fritters for the appetizer and the butterfish hot pot for the entree (we both ordered the butterfish!) Delicious. Also for 2 people the one appetizer was plenty, two would have been too many. I saw many people ordered the short ribs and they looked great, too. The staff was attentive. We had a 7:15 reservation but the hostess seated us early (that doesnʻt always happen). The prices are not "over the top" by Hawaiʻi standards and the quality is excellent. We will go again next time we are on Kauaʻi.

Best meal we had on the islands! Incredible food, attentive and knowledgeable staff. Try the snapper if it’s available while you’re there, it’s fantastic. Additionally, the chocolate soufflé is delicious, especially when paired with the raspberry.
