Favorite restaurant on South shore. Wonderful cocktails, fantastic food, friendly and informative staff and a stunning view.
We have been to Merrimans in Honolulu, Maui & Kauai. It is definitely our favorite place in Hawaii. My wife’s favorite is the Poipu location! The mai tai’s are the best! And the food is fantastic along with the servers and bartenders!
Food and service was great. Highly recommended
Outstanding service. We sat at the bar as we did not have reservations. Bartenders were truly amazing with their recommendations and small talk about life on the island. Highly recommend the grilled octopus.
Nice views from the outside seating. Used to have good fish.
Pretty good food and ok atmosphere. You can tell it’s a lot of locals hanging out at the bar - which is fine but one of their buddies was our server and he was a bit of a surly dude. Not sure if we did something to upset him but he seemed a little annoyed that he had to take our order and bring us our food. Fish tacos were a little tough and the “specially made hamburger patties” were nothing crazy. Good place to bring kids relative to the other swanky spots in the plaza.
Mai tai just ok but totally recommend their kahlua pig and pineapple pizza! Their coconut creme brulee was delish as well.
Have no idea what the food is like here because we never made it in the door. We came with friends for dinner. There were about 6 people standing in front of the hostess desk when we arrive. No hostess at the desk. The people in front of us were all chatting together when 2 of them left, telling the others "Good Luck". We'd waited 3-5 minutes when the hostess arrives and grabs a large group of people that were off to the side and seats. Ok, she'd been making room for this party. We wait for another couple of minutes and she comes back to the desk and gets the group of people who were ahead of us and seats them. We were standing right behind this group, we were clearly visible to her. She did not come back!! One member of our group was taller and he could see her serving water at various tables. After another 5+ minute wait, the hostess finally reappears. We tell her that we are a party of 4. She looks at us and says, "oh, there will be a small wait". Another staff member appears and whispers in her ear at which point she turns back to us and tells us the wait will be 45 minutes. We stood in line at the hostess desk for 15 minutes just to be acknowledged and we could see empty tables in the restaurant. Obviously they were short staffed but if she'd just acknowledged us in the 1st place we wouldn't have had to wait the 15 minutes.
We stopped here on a lunch break from our Waimea Canyon tour and it was the best choice we could have made! We had the most delicious tacos I think we have ever tasted - my Kalua pig carnitas tacos with kim chee were, I think, an original combination that was extremely flavorful and my daughter said her choice of pork quesadilla, also with house-made kim chee, was her favorite meal in Kauai. Service was friendly and efficient, and I would definitely eat here again.
We went here for lunch and loved the burgers and truffle fries. Service was great and it's in a nice location. We were there on a day when it was raining, but because the patio is covered, we could still sit outside which we loved.

Great place with a good atmosphere. First time I went was with a large group and it seemed like the food took forever. Not really their fault, so I was glad I got another chance to try them out. This time, the for came out quickly and was delicious. I had the B.K.E. burger and I really enjoyed it. Would come here again.
We thought that being connected with Merrimans Fish House would make their fish good too... we had a garden salad with fresh catch and the fish was very small and overcooked - the first overcooked fish we’ve ever had on Kauai in over 10 visits to the island. Burger and fries were good, but we came here for a casual break from the higher priced restaurants, but prices very high for what ended up being on our plates. Also the manager was very uninterested in any issues we had. In all we left unhappy and still hungry.
We have always made a stop here for happy hour dinner. This year after ordering the fish tacos, I was extremely disappointed. The fish was overcooked, dry and tasteless. When I explained my issue to our server, she left to speak with the manager. They agreed to remake me a taco entree with a different fish so it would be more to my liking. Couldn't eat the second taco either. Yes, it was a different fish but so overcooked and dry even my husband wouldn't eat it and he eats ANYTHING! We will not be going back with so many other wonderful options in the Poipu area.
I had a 10" sausage and pepperoni pizza, loved it. I got the cherry fizz, but it did not live upto expectations.
We wanted a casual dinner with decent food and decided that Merriman's downstairs burger and pizza joint would fit the bill, especially during happy hour (3:30-5:30) with $8 mai tais and 25% off the regular menu. It was a good choice. First, the mai tais were simple but very tasty, especially with the honey-lilikoi foam on top. Both the fish tacos and Kalua pig carnitas tacos were very good. My wife was impressed with the house-made kim chee on the latter. We shared an order of truffle parmesan fries...plenty for both of us. Our server was knowledgeable answering our menu questions and available when we needed her. We'd return
