Staff was rude from the moment we stepped inside. The hot dog was a small light life hot dog, which also wasn’t impressive. Wouldn’t go back. Updated from previous review on 2025-05-22
We used to love this place, but it seems they changed their ingredients and it's no longer great for vegans. Their sauces all have dairy now and their hot dog is just a Lightlife dog. They literally pulled it out of the package and dropped it on the grill for us. I'd stay away now. $12.50 for a slightly dressed up Lightlife dog is hardly worth it.
Waited in line for an hour to get a Puka Dog. It was good but, not worth waiting that long for a Hawaiian hot dog.

Great dog if your looking for a quick bite to eat. The Mango and Pineapple polish sausage dogs are super delicious especially with Auntie Lilikois mustard. I've only tried the mild and spicy jalepeno garlic lemon secret sauce. I'm someone who can't handle much heat in my food, but the spicy was bearable. If you see a line around the corner it's worth the wait.

If you like hot dogs, this is a great stop to try them in a tropical way. Tried the mango and pineapple, mild, with the lilikoi mustard on the side. Both were delicious. I liked the pineapple slightly more as the flavor paired better with the polish sausage. Be aware that the rolls they use results in a higher bread to meat ratio. But the bread is fresh and is great to dip in the side of sweet mustard. The meat is a decent size, and I really enjoyed the different flavors pairing together that I typically do not get on a hot dog. I also got the fresh lemonade with full sugar and a lilikoi shot. It was perfect on its own to sip by the ocean. The spot is right by the beach, and a line does form.

Over rated ordinary Polish dog. Costco hot dog is a much better deal. Breneke's upstairs is fabulous though
It’s worth trying once for the experience, but I won’t be paying $12 for a hot dog again. The novelty is fun, but for that price, I expected more in terms of flavor and quality. It’s decent, but not something I’d go out of my way for a second time.

We were told we had to go to Puka Dog when we went to Kauai, and I am so glad we did. We each got the sausage dog, mild, with pineapple relish and the Hawaiin mustard, plus lemonade. Delicious!!! We had to stand in line for a bit, but it was well worth it!

Absolutely not worth it...
Costco hot dog and soda cost 1.5$ and taste the same except 0 line and 15$
Staff is nice and welcoming by the way, that's why i will leave 1 star instead of 0...

We can't get enough of the spicy papaya puka dog!! We ate here all three days we were in Poipu. So easy to enjoy the turtles and sunset with a Puka dog in your hand. Loved the lemonade too. Get the full and water it down for double the fun.

Well…. If you are vegan/vegetarian this is definitely not the place to eat unless you don’t care about cross contamination!! I stood in line for 20 min watching them cook my veggie dog in the same place as the meat dogs. Using a green tong to rotate it which was a nice thought.. but completely pointless in the end. I see no point in offering a vegan option if you throw it around in the meat grease on the same grill before throwing it in a bun. I did not end up ordering anything due to the constant cross contamination I witnessed. My boyfriend liked his fruity hot dog that tasted like candy but said it was “meh” for $20. I highly recommend Leahi.

Very nice people, clean and great tasting. Only concern…… my Girlfriend wanted a vegan dog and they cook it right where they cook the regular dogs. Would have been nice to have kept it separate. They did use different utensils to turn it, but on the same area meat was cooked defeated the purpose.
My food was AMAZING.
