Very disappointed in management at this restaurant! Delivery of entrees lacks in freshness, and ideal temperature of steaks. When paying $66 for a Filet, it should be served hot, not lukewarm. When brought to our server’s attention, management said it is ‘corporate policy not to comp or discount food’. Manager did not come over or make himself/herself known to our table. No apology from the chef. Merely a ‘desert’ taken off the bill. As a matter of principle, when a restaurant is charging as much as this establishment does, there are certain standards and expectations. This restaurant bills themself as the ‘prime’ restaurant at the resort, but they let my family down. Management’s response was very underwhelming, and did not take any responsibility or even talk with us about the issues. In addition, the pretentiousness of adding a 20% gratuity is surprising, and hurts the servers from getting a bigger tip (if they deserve it). This restaurant is over-priced and under delivers. For being owners at the villas at the resort, we were very disappointed.

P.S. If you are going to have a ‘fresh catch’ advertised on the menu, but then report that it ‘has been out for several days’, take it off the menu. A cheap substitute fish does not constitute the price you charge.

P.P.S. The ‘lounge singer’ was singing 1980’s soft-rock songs, not at all the Hawaiian music we anticipated from a ‘prime’ restaurant charging what they do. This is not Las Vegas from the 1990’s.

Had a reservation 15 minutes prior to sunset on 6-14-2025. When we arrived on time we could see several available tables at the window. The host walked us to the other side of the restaurant. After asking for a sunset view we were told it too loud by the band playing. Turns out the host was saving the best tables for her local friends. Another couple was told the same thing. Unacceptable.

Food was a bit disappointing, not quite what we were expecting but still quite good. They didn't have any local fish for their flagship entree which was odd, instead waiter apologized for flown-in salmon. Given we live in Pacific NW (Oregon) and eat salmon 2x per week this was a big disappointment. Lobster special had shredded lobster meat (odd) and butterfish was just ok. Rice was ruined with butterfish though and side veggies disastrously overcooked and oil soaked. Dessert we chose the Kauai cake, lemon cake with coconut ice cream topped with ube meringue, selected this for something local and different. Was ok, nothing spectacular. Left feeling overall 'meh' 4 stars maybe a bit generous, but because the property is so spectacular the evening was made. We decided afterwards probably won't go back for food, but we will investigate staying at the Sheraton as property is just unreal.

Although we did not have a reservation, the staff at RumFire were very accommodating to us. They sat us at an ocean view table, we had live music and the cocktails and food were amazing. Jason was very sweet and his recommendations from drinks to food and desserts were appreciated. Thank you for such a memorable time!

This place is WAY to expensive $49 dollars for a hamburger ??

A mediocre place masquerading as something more fancy. Food is just ok, certainly not worth the premium prices. Odd wine list. Cavernous dining room with terrible acoustics. You can and should do better for dinner in Kauai.

It’s a great restaurant—forget that it’s part of a resort, the food is delicious and it’s a fun place to be. One of the best high-end meals we’ve had on the island, we loved the ability to choose four smaller-portioned entrees for two people, it’s a good menu and clever idea to allow people to taste more of it in one sitting. You can also choose two entrees for one person if you’re stuck between two options.

The mango basil mojito was 100% best frozen drink we’ve experienced, we went back again to get more

Would definitely go back. I'd recommend dining fairly early, while the sun is up, because you don't want to miss the views. Service was pretty great too

As others have noted it is loud. The live entertainment adds to the noise of normal restaurant background conversation noise. Service was very good and our server Jonny was attentive and helpful. We had the short ribs, fillet mignon and scallops. Scallops were a little bit overcooked but all the other entrees were perfect. Cheesecake and torte for dessert were good but not exceptional.

Service was good, super nice and inviting. Food was decent. Scallops were seasoned well with the extras, but not a large meal by any means I am glad I got white rice as a side. The crab crusted fish was okay, not much crab and the fish was a bit overcooked. The atmosphere was nice, but if I am spending 50+ per meal, I would expect a private bathroom. The bathroom is offsite used for Poipu beach goers and was down for cleaning, so I had to walk clear across campus to go the the bathroom.

Went back two nights in a row . The dining room has a spectacular view of the sunset. And it is quite a beautiful room. The service is absolutely exceptional. Every person in there from the manager to the bus boy was extremely professional and friendly. The food was the best we have had on the island. but I think the best part about this restaurant, is it’s relatively reasonable prices for Kauai. Most of the rest on the island are overly priced . rum fire is not cheap, but it is not excessive , They’re happy hour cocktails are some of the best priced we have found. this is a highly recommended restaurant in my book.

Had wanted to come for a few years to see what all the fuss was about the place. First, the views are spectacular, if you come while light outside. Second, the place is loud, easily the loudest meal out we had on the island, so not my recommendation for a romantic date. The food is indeed spectacular. One of us went with the Short Rib and the other with the Misoyaki Butterfish, both recommended. We started with the Grapefruit Salad and a side of Jumbo Shrimp, an excellent pair. Recommend coming by walking or shuttle.

Came here on our first night at the Sheraton. The ceviche flight lacked that freshness and the hamachi was very fishy. The miso cod was pretty good as were the cocktails. They gave us curried popcorn when we sat down, it wasn’t very good to be honest. Staff were friendly and the views are nice. I don’t think I would eat here again, as there are better options around in the same price point.

I paid for a private dinner on the patio at Rum Fire. Prior to the event, at the coordinators, request I had to work up a very specific menu for us to agree on. I was told the patio was a lovely spot and will be very private.
Turns out the patio is about 3 steps from the public path from the hotel to the beach and a public cornhole game set up. The entire evening people were walking by and staring. On at least 5 different occasions families stopped to play the cornhole game which was directly in front of us, just a few steps away. In addition to not being private at all, half of the agreed on menu wasn't followed. We had dietary restrictions so not everyone could eat their whole meal. We tried send a few things back but when over half the food is wrong we just gave up and figured we would have to go out to eat after we left.
For how expensive this private dinner was this was a very disappointing experience.
