Amazing place. We made reservations for our last night on the island as we were here for our honeymoon. They knew it was our honeymoon so gave us a special private table with exceptional views of the fish pond, the grounds and just the right amount of breeze. Service was amazing, food was incredible all for a reasonable price. Honestly, if we knew it would be a trio winner with excellent service, excellent food, excellent atmosphere for what we thought was a reasonable cost we would have eaten here more. The crab cakes were fabulous, Hawaiian plate fantastic and the husband loved the swordfish. For sure need advance reservations but well worth the planning! Wander the grounds before/after and take in the beauty.

4.5 stars. Service and atmosphere were amazing. Food was good, not amazing, and prices are high as to be expected in Hawaii at a luxury resort. I've dined at Tidepools before and each meal has been memorable for a good reason- this was no exception. The drinks are top notch (try a lava flow) as is the food. My only complaint was in the composition of some of the dishes. I ate the macadamia crusted mahi, which was served with two sauces AND a papaya avocado salsa- it was too much; and the flavor pairings were not the most interesting. I've had better incarnations of that dish, at Tidepools in the past. That said, the meal was still one of the best I had on Kauai - for those choosing a nice meal on the island, the ambiance can't be beat and the good quality is still top 3 in my opinion. Plus, you get to watch the Koi while you eat!Parking: Easy valet validated by restaurantKid-friendliness: This restaurant is not what I would call kid friendly, though they have menu items and an ambience that are enchanting even to kids. The issue is that it's so romantic and high priced, it's mostly populated by couples, kids don't fit in too well. I'd advise dining early or requesting a more private table if dining with kids at this restaurant.

We are staying at the Hyatt. After a bad meal at Seaview Terrace we had an awesome night at Tidepools. The view is beautiful and the food was great. We had crab cakes and scallop appetizers which were very good. The scallops were encrusted and seared nicely. The crab cakes were almost all meat. For the entree my wife had the Hawaiian seafood platter with grilled scallop, prawn, lobster and sautéed swordfish. Everything was juicy and well done we had a great bottle of Shafer Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 that scored 98+ but I fell it was more like a 93 point wine. A little hot and lost some mid palate. The highlight of the evening was our server, Les. He was outstanding in every way. Great knowledge, super enthusiastic about the menu, restaurant, and Hawaii. You could tell he was native and had also been at the restaurant since it opened 34 years ago. I recommend going to Tidepools and asking for Les to serve you.

Great place with beautiful view and delicious food. We visited in a windy night in Feb, it was a little bit chilly for outdoor sitting. A heater could be helpful. I ordered the Hawaiian catch seafood plate as my entree, it was wonderful, great flavor with large portion , includes lobster tail, salmon, scallop, taro etc. We also brought a cake to celebrate birthday, the servers were very helpful to satisfy all of our needs. Definitely recommend to people live in the hotel or just looking for some fine dining on the island.

We stayed at the Grand Hyatt for our 1 year wedding anniversary. Since there were no reservations available during our stay, we decided to stop by the lounge to get some apps/drinks. We were glad we did. Scott and Travis at the lounge bar took really good care of us and gave us a couple freebies for it being our anniversary. Thank you so much to Scott and Travis for making our trip memorable. PS the crab cakes and kalbi ribs are awesome. And, the cucumbers that come with the ribs are so good can’t stop thinking about them.

The food was the best food I’ve ever had. Shout out to Les for being such a great server. I had the keiki chicken teriyaki with rice and asparagus and for dessert I had truffles, lava cake, ice cream and it was amazing. - Michael 8 years

This was INCREDIBLE. The Hawaiian catch is full of goodies. Catch of the day fish, jumbo scallop, jumbo shrimp, nice-sized lobster tail, asparagus, sweet potato, and squash. Went here to celebrate my birthday and the staff was so friendly and even brought out not 1 but TWO desserts complimentary for us to share. This is service and food done right.

Ambiance is lovely close to the beach and with the pool beneath but other than that the food is overpriced and poorly executed. Service was attentive and nice and they made recommendations. They bring out taro rolls but truthfully the just tasted like regular white bread. The polenta crusted scallops were just okay. The scallops were cooked well but the dish was served lukewarm which was immediately a turn off. The Hamachi sashimi was bland and severely overdressed with soy sauce and ponzu. The Hawaiian catch that evening was mahi as it often is (if I had a nickel for every time the daily catch at any Hawaiian restaurant is mahi I'd be rich haha). I am not a huge fan of mahi but I liked that it came with shellfish. The dish overall was good but not stellar. If you are staying at the Hyatt yes this is a convenient dining option but I'd recommend venturing off property for better more affordable food.

Great atmosphere, food, and service. Perfect place to enjoy being on Kauai. Juan was a fantastic server, the restaurant is set up beautifully to make each table feel special, and everything we ate was great. The Macadamia crusted fish was unique and delicious, scallops were great, drinks were fun, and dessert was good. Hoping to return in the future!

Very good experience. Were seated at a great table at corner of restaurant with complete view of lagoon. Food was fantastic. Fish was perfectly cooked...moist and not dried out. Veggies were al dente...perfectly cooked. The dhef experiments with different fiod types ie...complimentary broth at opening of meal. Very tasty. I was skeptical of a big hotel restaurant but the experience blew me away in a good way!!

We chose this restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday during our vacation in Kauai. Although our reservation was at 8:30 pm, we arrived at 5 pm feeling famished. Surprisingly, the staff was incredibly accommodating and seated us immediately. Let's talk about the food - it was truly exceptional! We started with a variety of appetizers including poke, beet salads, and the scallop dish, all of which were absolutely fantastic. As for the main course, we ordered the mahi, forbidden rice, and chicken, and every dish was cooked to perfection. And let's not forget about the dessert - it was out of this world! Our server, Martha, deserves special recognition for her outstanding service. She was not only friendly but went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable dining experience. The breathtaking view from the restaurant added to the overall ambiance, and we ended up spending a delightful 2.5 hours there. Overall, our experience at this restaurant was nothing short of excellent. From the attentive staff to the delicious food and stunning view, it was a truly memorable evening.

We came here for a special dinner and it was so delicious and definitely the perfect ending for our special day. We sat in one of the private tables surrounded by the koi fish. Service was good. Ambiance was beautiful. The Hawaiian Catch was one of the best things I ate on the island, everything was so tasty and fresh. I hope we make this a tradition!
