Incredible. Poke and chicken katsu couldn't be beat. They had an awesome spicy garlicky sauce that was excellent as well. Service was fast and friendly. Approachable menu as well with other options!

By the time I got into the store to order a to go order, it took one hour for me to order and receive my food. Three customers in front of me which I understood, but I was dumbfounded by how slow everyone moved inside. They're lucky their burger is good, which is the only reason they got a second star. Their fries are not only plain and disgusting, but they're cheap and non edible. I tried to make this review as nice as I could. At least the girl behind the counter was polite but a sloth would be comparable.

Drove down here after visiting the park. Heard about this sushi spot.. little did we know that they have separate hours from the rest of the cafe. So if you headed here for the sushi or poke... be aware of their separate hours

I take the BBQ Platter and Wow the food was freshly cook, tasty and really good !!! Don't be scared , as the restaurant is just beside a gas station. You will enjoy it !

This place is great. Went there for the first time about 2 weeks ago. Stopped on the way home from visiting VNP. Walked in and was a bit surprised as there wasn't much seating as place was small. However the food made up for all that. They serve a variety of Hawaiian plate options, sandwiches, burgers and poke. There were 4 of us. 2 ordered the burgers and 2 the poke. Poke was nice and fresh. The burgers are awesome and for the price $6.99 for single $9.99 for double you can't beat it. Mind you the burgers are just burgers nothing comes with it including any condiments no lettuce tomatoes etc but they do provide ketchup and mustard. Which I don't mind as I'm pretty much a no frills burger gal anyways. Each patty is 4 oz. and they taste great! We were pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back. Folks working there very friendly. I live in Keaau and will gladly take a ride up to Kurtistown just for the burger and maybe a side of sushi.

OMG SUSHI!! Sweet Thunder Products Sushi Chef is now at Kurtistown Cafe!! I love love love her Poke. It is always so fresh and tasty. The service from the Sushi Chef is always quick and friendly. The atmosphere of this restaurant has always been cozy whenever I stop in.

Amazing local food! If you’re looking to get a real taste of the Big Island this is the place to go. They have many options. I tried the Hawaiian plate which included pork, loa loa, and salmon. It was great and more than enough to fill you up. My fiancé had the BBQ plate and it was so flavorful and tender it came with chicken, beef, and a short rib plus sides. Coming from a long time Texas resident it exceeded my high standards with flying colors!!!

Pretty dumb to request people to pay in person if picking up for someone else but all they do is keep hanging up on you when trying to place an order.

Ate the Ono plate in one visit and the. Smoke meat and mochiko chicken from the steam table on another visit. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Even the jello dream was surprisingly light and sweet. If I lived in the Kurtistown, Mountain View or Volcano areas I would eat here every day. Amazing selections, tasty food and great service - for a good price. Go check them out!
