We went for dinner and put our name on this list and went to bar. Ignored and then when others came and sit beside us they were greeted and were assisted asap. Im not one throw race card but it seemed very prevalent...politely left and went next door to Lelani and was treated great and like a valued customer! please do better Hula grill!

Toes in the sand, great food, ocean breeze, and excellent service! What more could you ask for?

Love stopping here after getting off the plane and waiting for our room to be ready. We have spent time on Maui every year since 1997, and the Barefoot Cafe is our first stop. You can take off your shoes as the covered seating is on the sand, just yards from the water. The food is excellent as are the staff.

The food was absolutely amazing. We all enjoyed it- we took our kiddos and there were more fish options than they would but we absolutely loved it!

We’ve been to Hula Grill many times… every time we come to Maui. It’s been a favorite spot to enjoy the gorgeous view, watch the sunset and dig our toes into the sand. This time menu choices at the bar were a little light, and though the food was fresh (Ahi Poke bowl and Hula Cheeseburger) and pretty good, the service felt rushed, and the live music did not hit the mark. Overall good experience, but not as stellar as before.

Wow! This place had delicious food! We had the Pork Shank and chicken plates. So savory and delicious 😋 our server was also great. Loved the atmosphere. And the potsticker appetizer was so ono!

Overpriced and gross food. I’m super disappointed. We went there last night for my birthday dinner and I ordered the Mahi. It had absolutely no flavor except for the macadamia nut on top which was overpowering and I couldn’t eat it anymore after a few bites. The rice was dry and flavorless and my husbands Ahi was small and bland. My kid got the chicken and it was spongy and flavorless. I wish I could get my money back. The only good thing was our waitress was super nice and helpful with the kids. I wouldn’t waste your money here.

Great little bar and restaurant the drink are very tasty and pack a punch. I can’t say enough about the pineapple upside down cake with caramel rum sauce, served hot and paired perfectly with a pig slushy with rum.

The seafood potstickers are an amazing starter. Ahi Tuna was delicious. Wish we had room for the Hula Pie. It looked wonderful but we were too stuffed to order it.

I put a shellfish allergy -on my reservation-. We ordered a vegetable and bread appetizer, and mentioned the allergy again. Was told the bread was baked in an oven with lobster, so one party member decided not to eat it. That’s totally fine.

Moving on, we waited over 20 minutes for drinks (never arrived). All in all, we decided to ask for the check early.

The result: Talked down to about dining on the Hawaiian islands, and how they’re known for their seafood and shellfish dishes, and how we should mention that first next time. Ma’am: we did. On the reservation and in person.

We were then told this establish was an expert in allergy management, and even had separate cooking areas for people with allergies. But this was not offered for the bread and vegetable dish. So why even bring that up?

We tipped above the cost of the appetizer anyway and left - unfortunately put the tip in mid-berating from our waitress. Would not have otherwise if we had heard all she had to say to use before we left.

Very off putting experience. First causes me to lack faith in her preached allergy expertise, and second being talked down to in such a way for no reason. And again the drinks never arrived.

Do not eat here or at its sister restaurant if you have a deadly allergy. It will not be taken seriously or registered (as again, we gave it in advance - clearly no one will read it), you will not be offered an alternative, and you will be berated for deciding to step out (and again, we ultimately decided to do so because our drinks were never made - it wasn’t even the allergy concern).

But the revelation that they didn’t even read the reservation - berating me for not bringing my allergy up when appropriate (even though we did - twice!) - with no correction offered - no. Will not visit again, and I urge anyone with allergies to skip entirely. They will not accommodate you.
