We love the real Ono Gelato but realized too late that Maui Sweet Co is currently supplying the gelato at this location due to production issues (according to the small sign on the case). No samples are allowed which seems like a carryover COVID policy perhaps. The people were very nice but the gelato was “icy” instead of creamy and the taste wasn’t great (we tried the chocolate and the mint chocolate chip). Hopefully the real Ono gelato will be back soon!

Wanted a nice gelato treat, but gelato had a strange (not good) after taste that killed it for me and my wife. Ultimately regretted spending money here. No samples allowed, which would've saved a lot of wasted gelato and my taste buds. I think it was a coconut based gelato?, which isn't bad in itself, but the after taste ruined it. I got the chocolate and mint chip. The chocolate was the only thing decent that didn't have as strong of an aftertaste, probably could have kept eating it but my appetite for gelato was already ruined. My wife got the cookies n cream and salted caramel, which like the mint, had a strong, not good aftertaste. Very disappointed :(

The ice cream here is really good! Samples were not available (due to COVID?) so we went by our gut.I got a double cone with Salted Caramel and Sandy Beach.My daughter got a double cone with Salted Caramel and Coffee Crunch.My friend got a double cone with Salted Caramel and Tiramisu.We were very happy with our selections. The Salted Caramel went really well with the 3 different flavors, and they were all yummy! It was cool out, yet we noticed our ice cream melted rather quickly. The flavor was there, but the consistency was off somehow...The service wasn't bad. There was a long line, but because they did not provide samples, the line moved pretty fast.

We tried probably 4 flavors and returned twice for the Cheesecake! Omg it’s so delicious. It has that distinct sour cream cheese flavor. The one in my hand is coffee, macadamia nut and chocolate chunk. Then I went back for more Cheesecake! Sweet people too!! They have a little shop for Island treasures and other treats attached. Go there! ?

I got the salted caramel and the cookies and creme. They weren't bad necessarily but the cookies and cream didn't have much taste and the salted caramel was too strong of a taste. Wouldn't get it again.

Oh my golly, this is some good gelato! My husband and I shared the medium with the coconut and coffee. So delicious and refreshing!!!

I'd prefer another ice cream or gelato place. I was immediately turned off when I was forced to tell the attendant how much I should put for her tip on the screen when I Apple paid because there was a partition preventing me from doing it myself. Very awkward. I opted to give her 15% on a $35 bill for 4 gelato orders which came out to $5.31 for her tip. I felt weird if I'd only tip $2 or $3 which is customary for an ice cream shop. The gelato place doesn't offer any samples either. I'd avoid this place all together. I'd give them 2 stars had it not been for the nice attendant who asked if we'd parked there and she validated our parking. There is no reason why they should have the screen partitioned off from customers. Or to not do samples. It's a tourist spot. You're charging almost $10 for glorified ice cream so do your samples and you'll get repeat business.

I went here twice during my vacation, which says a lot cause we stayed 45 minutes from this place.The first time I had cookies and cream with tirimisu and it was so lush. I tried mango and lemon (pictured) and it was also good, my family loved these.The staff was super friendly! The gelato was creamy and made my taste buds happy. I only wish we were had been closer so I could have visited more.

Tasty gelato and love that they offer dairy free options. We enjoyed the Kona crunch, vanilla sprinkle, mint chip, coconut and mango. Keiki size is plenty. Too bad they don't offer samples anymore. Nice spot to stop while shopping Whaler's Village.
