Garden Island Barbecue & Chinese Restaurant

Me and my boyfriend went here for lunch. I ordered fried wontons and orange chicken. This place gave off major mom and pop vibes, and we loved the humble aspect to it. We received very big portion sizes for what we paid for, and the food came out less than five minutes after we ordered it! The place was mostly empty so the waitress was super quick to refill water, bring us the bill, and to-go boxes.
Everything was very yummy!

The food is so good. The staff are so welcoming and kind. The prices were extremely reasonable. Probably best value and top 3 meals I’ve had on the island, but I’m also biased as I’m Chinese.

I really enjoyed the casual vibe here and the portions were way bigger than I expected. The food hit the spot when I was craving something hearty and quick, and the flavors were super satisfying. It is the perfect kind of place to grab a reliable meal without any fuss, and I would definitely come back when I am in the area again.

Garden Island BBQ always has fast service. The staff dont smile all the time but hey its busy for a reason. The food is good. The staff work hard to get your food to you in a timely manner and the food will be hot when it reaches your table.

This is a great place to go to. The price is affordable and the food is great. Bathrooms were omg but every thing else was right on.

Got chicken and curry and I got like 6-7 cubes of chicken that were why you’d expect in a frozen dinner, everything was bland. Family got shrimp chow mein and a bbq sandwich with fires. Chow mein was bland besides the shrimp that wasn’t seasoned. Just tasted like frozen shrimp which was the best part according to him. Bbq sandwich came with tomato’s and lettuce for some reason, brother took a bite and said it would be fine but there was something in there that ruined it all. Overall I would avoid this place or maybe go with other options but based on what I had that would be a hard no.

This place gives mom and pop vibes and has the best food! The bbq shortribs, and special fried rice are our go to dishes. But everything is always so flavorful and cooked to perfection. We’ve had their pork chops, chicken, and vegetables, and everything we’ve ordered has been amazing. The service is kind, and so chill, and the food comes out fast. We keep coming back because it’s that good. An absolute must try!

The host had an extremely bad and unwelcoming attitude throughout the interaction. Simply asking for ginger resulted in an unexpected $2.00 charge, which felt petty and unnecessary. The tone used was rude and sarcastic, making it clear that customer service is not a priority here. On top of that, they don’t even provide basic items like plates, which is shocking for a restaurant. When this was noticed, the response was once again sarcastic rather than helpful. Overall, the experience felt dismissive, cheap, and uncomfortable, as if customers are an inconvenience rather than the reason the business exists. The attitude alone makes this place not worth returning to.

Fast friendly service. The wait staff were very attentive to our order. They made sure we were comfortable with our seat in the sun. Great food!

Had a great last meal in Kauai last week. The broccoli and tofu with white rice and kimchi was very tasty!

Later lunch bit we both enjoyed clean plate club. The CHAR SUI was excellent above my last three tries at other restaurants. I would recommend this everytime. I paired it with Chicken Katsu and fried rice. This was a great find and I enjoyed this meal.
