I think it was ridiculous for me to sign in when there was only 2 customers in the restaurant. I arrived at the restaurant about 5 minutes after they opened. After I signed in I waited 10 minutes, the server told me I'll get a text when a table is ready. Is she kidding me??? I left to go elsewhere, then a got a text 30 minutes later saying a table is ready, at that time I've already eaten elsewhere. The server was also rude.

The kids love to see the food coming on the little train. The food is not bad. It's just something fun to do for the kids

Came at 2 on a Saturday, was so excited because it wasn't busy at all. Only to have a 50 minute wait! Customer service is so bad I am not sure if they are understaffed or what but very disappointed

I am not one to come and leave a bad review so this means a lot for me. I wish I would came on here early to be warned about the poor quality of service. I work at a restaurant so I know how things run and understand the struggle of being short staffed. However, at my restaurant we typically let people know how long the wait is or even how long we should expect food to come out. My family and I scanned the QR code for the waitlist, we were number 11 in line. We were willing to wait because we love genki and have not eaten there in a while. After waiting 30 minutes I checked the website and it still said we were number 11 in line. No changes. So we went to speak to the hostess to see how long we should expect. She said another hour. So we continued to shop. An hour passes by and we get called in. Ac was broken. Tablets weren't working. The QR code to order food from the phone was very laggy even on there wifi. Pictures wouldn't load for the menu. I ordered miso soup for my niece which took 10 minutes to come out. There was only 3 other booths of people with us. My niece received all her 2 plates we order and I was still waiting for mine. Even though we ordered at the same time. Another table gets sat 10 minutes after us and starts receiving all their food. I was concerned because I still haven't received my two plates, which was edamame and a sushi roll. I patiently wait because I understood they were short staffed, as well as the kitchen. However my niece finished her food and still no sign of mine. 35 minutes passed and still none of my food. So my mom gets up and asks one of lady's about my food. Because the other table is receiving all of their despite we ordered first. So the lady comes out with my sushi 5 minutes later and informs us we are actually out of edamame. Really frustrating. I happen to over hear the table next to us checking out and telling the lady they didn't receive half of their food. I love genki. I am very understanding when it comes to restaurants being short staffed. But have the decency to let your customers know wait times and what to be expected before sitting down to eat. Let us know we will have to wait 30-45minutes for food or just close down. It took 2 hours total to wait and eat. We waited 1.5 hours to sit down and than another 30 minutes for food. To only sit and eat for 10 minutes. I just wanted to warn everyone before the decide to come and eat here. Genki isn't how it used to be. Service was bad. And yes the ladies were kind. But it was bad service to not inform your customers of what's to be expected. I looked at previous reviews on Yelp. And looks like it's been going on for a long time. Please have the decency to just close down or completely change the service you provide. Genki has always been a family favorite. But after today I will not return sadly.

Genki Sushi-Kauai NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY. NO JOKE. This is the third time (shame on us) we tried to get in to eat at 11:30 am. You arrive to 1/4 of the restaurant full yet you're on a waitlist via QR Code that you have to scan upon arrival. We were number #4 on the waitlist; waited over 1.5 hrs & still nothing opened up (people were in a long snaking line just to pay). I saw groups waiting outside just get up & leave. Still the staff wouldn't seat us until they had the space. Altho there IS/WAS ample space available. Noticed the customers sitting there without food or eating for a VERY long time. The problem (shame on management & owners) is they are severely short staffed. The gals are overwhelmed getting yelled at by customers as well as the cook(s) in back (you have to feel bad for all of them). Still, one has to wonder why two gals can't handle the few people they seat in there (maybe 10-12 at a time at most!). Totally unacceptable & ridiculous that they even allow the place to stay open. Not to mention, the AC is still broken & the restroom is still "out of order." After waiting another few mins & without any reassurance we would get a seat anytime soon, we told them goodbye & left. Really a disappointment because we were patrons from when they first opened. And sadly, they are on their way out unless by some miracle new owners come in & do a major redo of this genki.

Every time I come here this place can never open on time. “Open daily from 11am - 8pm” - 11:30 and still waiting outside. Staff can’t even come out to say sorry we’re running a few minutes behind. People have sh-t to do and half the day is gone. How can you not open on time? Also, not sure what the kitchen is doing but I’ve sat in the restaurant by myself for over an hour because the food takes ages to come out…and it’s not even busy.I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but honestly save your money but most importantly your time and find a different sushi joint. Not worth coming to

Even though they are obviously understaffed like most places on Island , their staff makes up for it with hard work and being so friendly.Amanda was outstanding. She deserves a raise no matter what she is being paidClose to the Keiki Korner . So it’s great for families with little ones.

Terrible experience. I walked into the restaurant and was told very rudely to go outside and scan a qr code to get put on a wait list. There was literally 1 person eating in the entire restaurant. Waited outside for 10 minutes and was brought in finally by Baba. He sat us down and the QR code to order wasn't working and he said "ya that happens" and walked off. Then the rest of the time he was randomly walking around the resturaunt or on his phone. 10/10 would NOT recommend.

Don't do it! Don't go in! Wait - you won't be able to get in! Horrible experience tonight. My family has been to this Genki Sushi location many times, and the service continues to decline. We met at 5:15pm and signed up for the wait list to dine in via the QR code. Waited over an hour and a half and saw our number go from 8 to 1 on the wait list, and we just...kept waiting. When we finally were able to flag down a server to ask when we were to be able to be seated, we were told it would be another 15 minutes. We asked again and found out we weren't even on the wait list in the first place! After commiserating with other would be patrons, we were seated after two hours. A server came by and said we weren't on the list since we didn't provide a phone number - my nephew who signed up said there wasn't an option for a phone number. When ordering the food via another QR code, the internet was extremely slow, delaying our order even more. The food that eventually came was okay - we would have eaten almost anything at that point since we were hangry and tired. It also felt like the AC wasn't working. Point being - don't go to this location unless you want to waste time and have a lack of service.

This place has tanked. Waited 2.5 hours for a table in a restaurant that was maybe 1/4 full with many empty tables. There was one waitress only and she had a less than friendly attitude. Raw seafood was almost frozen. I'm done with this place.
