Food was expensive; 6 wings about 18-20 dollars and a little
Salad? Crazy. Service was good when there was a young waitress/waiter but slow with the majority older wait staff. That was our experience; hate to say it. Very nice
Views; obnoxious flies and birds.

Very convienent restaurant located downstairs in the Marriott and allows room charges. Food was pretty good but service was not fast at all. The views are gorgeous and make waiting a lot easier.

We went for breakfast. Atmosphere is nice - restaurant is open air and has view of the resort.
Continental breakfast was $30 and full buffet (hot food - eggs, bacon, made to order omelets, etc.) was $49, which feels very expensive. Platinum and Titanum Marriott members gets continental breakfast included and them can pay $16 to upgrade to full buffet. One person can upgraded, and the other person isn’t required to upgraded. I liked this option and appreciated it. You would have no problems having just the continental breakfast as it pancakes or waffles, cereal, fruit, yogurt, etc. The quality of the food was very good. Nicely presented. My only complaint is that the service was poor - dirty plates just get stacked up on the table and no one clears them. Also, the servers do not explain the buffet. No one told us that coffee and juice were included with the buffet until we specifically asked. There is also a menu - most entrees were $25 to $30. Overall, good breakfast but it is very pricey if not included.

While staying at the Marriott Vacation Club, we had dinner at Hawaii Calls. Setting was nice but not special. Very limited menu and expensive. Service was very slow probably a sign of too few servers, cooks, etc. Went back next morning for breakfast buffet, fantastic omelette cook but again expensive and long wait for coffee. Not going back.

This place is an embarrassment and a sorry excuse for a restaurant! I made my reservation six weeks ago!! Upon arriving I was told my table for 5 wasn't ready nor would it be for a good while. The 'hostess' had the sense of urgency of a turtle. I therefore eventually agreed to a four-top for my party of five to squeeze around, after extensive waiting. That Was only the beginning...20 minutes after sitting we were still sitting, hoping that someone would come by...nope! I asked who our server might be, or even if we had one, but no responses from anyone. We eventually gave up and left this sorry excuse for hospitality! Upon leaving, I told the hostess that we were shocked at such incredibly poor service and management and she put a wide smarmy smile on her face and said 'aloha, enjoy your evening' (her Hawaiian version of 'screw you'). This place needs some serious attitude adjustment, actual management (none present) and a total staff face-lift!
Ultimately, my family and I wound up at a miserable food court for food. The hostess canceled my reservation so I'm unable to leave a review on Open Table, but believe me, if I could rate this abysmal establishment with negative stars, I would.
If you're thinking of attempting to eat here, good luck to you! What a joke.

We stayed at the resort and luckily went to this place only once.
We came in the evening to enjoy wine (which was good) and some small plates to pair with it. We chose tomato bisque soup. It was over-salted full of spices and tasted like a sauce. Served with no bread or crackers. I’ve asked the waiter for the bread options to pair with the soup and he brought the butter buns that were.. sweet.
We still tried our best to enjoy the evening and relax, but the very moment we finished the last piece of food, having our glasses still full we’ve got the receipt right away. For me it’s a clear message to leave.
Our stomachs did’t appreciate the food too.
Not recommended.

There’s only 20 people in the place out of 100 seats but some chicken tenders take half an hour on a to go order. Can’t believe how slow it is. Food is okay.

Hawaii Calls is in a spectacular location on A Bay on the Big Island of Hawaii. Sunset views of the lagoon and Pacific Ocean beyond. If the food were mediocre and the service bad people would still come but neither is true. The food is good with a few items Excellent (salads, nut crusted fish) and the service is excellent

Worst service ever! When breakfast was finally delivered they said the kitchen was busy, yet others sated after us were served before us. Ordered Batman with fruit. They forgot the fruit! Also did not deliver bacon order. Each time we had to wait an additional 10 minutes! Nothing but excuses from waitress and manager. Only go here if you have a couple of hours to kill!

Literally the worst, overpriced and under seasoned food I have ever eaten. $41 for a bowl of Mac n cheese that didn't taste like anything. $35 for a drink. $25 for a small poolside pizza. All around worst food for the most ridiculous pricing. Don't waste your money here and go eat next door at Lava Lava Beach Club where the food is amazing

The blandest food I've ever had the privilege of spending $$$$ on. It was cooked properly but nothing was seasoned. I wouldn't recommend this place. Service was decent but not great. The chef/cooks don't know how to season food at all which isn't acceptable at this price point.

The small portion of mahi mahi was overcooked and hard to chew and the locally raised kanpachi was a bit too crispy (over-fried). Both dinners were way overpriced. The garlic mashed potatoes were just plain potatoes and had large chunks of unmashed potato. The sauce for the fish was very good and the jasmin rice was good. Although the food was just fair, the view of the sunset was fantastic and we did enjoy ourselves.
