This place has been in my rotation when I'm back home for ages and for good reason. Ever since they had a location whether in waikoloa or Waimea it's been nothing but greatness! My personal favorites still are the tres combo, burrito grande or any of the quesadillas. All of them hit like a bus and continue to be among the best on the rock can get. Food comes out super fast and how this place remains slept on I'll never know...

We ordered the fish tacos and steak tacos. The food was just okay—nothing special for the price we paid.
Be prepared to wait at least 40 minutes for your tacos. The most frustrating part was that nobody informed us about the long wait time. At the very least, the staff should have the decency to tell customers that food may take 30–50 minutes to arrive.
Overall, it was not a pleasant experience, and unfortunately, we would not return.
Racha Thai on the same plaza was bad enough. As much as we wanted to support local business this is not the case. Spend your money somewhere else.

Overall a disappointment for Mexican food. The portions are big but mainly filled with rice and beans. To note that the rice is definitely not mexican rice. The food was very bland for a vegetarian burrito and Chile relleno. The type of Chile relleno I am used to is cooked in egg batter but they put a small pepper cooked in some bread/cornbread like substance and coated with cheese and red sauce. It was not what I expected and definitely prefer the other way it is made in the Southwest. Just a heads up, not looking to return.

Absolutely amazing experience! We ordered the chimichanga, and everything about it was incredibly fresh and flavorful. The guacamole tasted perfectly fresh, the chimichanga itself was delicious and packed with fresh ingredients, and the salsa was just so good—it tied everything together beautifully. Every bite felt authentic and satisfying. Easily the yummiest food we’ve had in Waikoloa, Hawai’i. Definitely a 5 out of 5 stars!”

Tres Mex is our go-to spot whenever we’re not wanting to cook and craving Mexican food. We usually cook Mexican at home a couple times a week, so we’re pretty picky, but Tres Mex never disappoints. It’s the perfect alternative when we don’t feel like cooking. The food is consistently delicious, the staff is super friendly, and we especially love their shredded beef tacos and shrimp ceviche.

So, so good and worth the wait. It’s in a very plain strip mall food court situation, but don’t let that throw you. It’s delicious and the portions are BIG. You can taste the love in every bite. We had the carne asada fries and the burrito grande. Both were just fantastic. We finished them even though we weren’t that hungry. It was just that good.
