K-Bap is a cute Korean food truck owned by a Korean lady, found on a nice street corner made into a small park in Wailuku. It is a hidden gem and an unassuming little truck that serves excellent, insane, and great food. Many find it to be one of the best, if not the best, Korean restaurants or trucks on Maui, offering memorable meals that are definitely recommended.
The menu features authentic and tasty dishes with perfectly balanced flavors. Popular items include the Pork Belly rice, with soft, tender, unctuous, and plentiful pork belly that melts in the mouth, slowly braised with amazing flavor and generous portions, served with steamed rice and Mac salad. The Beef Bulgogi is another favorite, described as amazing, perfectly umami, balanced, and not overly salty, often served with an egg on top. The BiBimBap, also called BIM-bim-bap, is amazing and so good, almost like a salad, featuring a super good homemade sauce. Other offerings include Jajangmyeon noodles, honey garlic wings which are drool-worthy delicious, Japchae sides that are perfectly seasoned and cooked, Bulgogi Kimbap (Korean sushi rolls), Buldak chicken, and Misoyaki pork. The food uses no MSG.
The truck operates with a two-woman operation, so patience is required, especially during busy events like First Friday Wailuku. Customers place their order at the white truck and wait for their name to be called. The plates are ample, tasty, and reasonable, offering great value, quality, and authenticity. It is a surprising find for good Korean food in Hawaii, worth every penny and every side trip to Wailuku, perhaps after hiking the Iao Valley.
