Great Plains pizza is the best. My favorite is the Prairie Special with extra sauce on their thick white crust. I live 40 minutes away and it's worth the drive. If you haven't tried it yet you should. Awesome pizza!!!
Great Plains really is the best. I try to get it whenever I am back in Ames. Also, I appreciate they do half baked. Which comes uncut and has reheating instructions stapled to the the box. I typically cut the pizza in half, vacuum seal, and freeze. I have found it reheats almost as good as carryout. It saves me a couple hours in the car when I get a craving for my favorite pizza.
Stopped by on vacation to try this pizza out. It was pretty good! Definitely a better option than any of the chain places nearby. You order at the counter, the guys working the kitchen were super nice and helpful. True to the name, there are more crust options than I’ve ever seen at any pizza place. It was good, but a little on the chewy side for my taste. The regular (not thin) crust is very, very thick. One slice was plenty of food for me, my husband and I didn’t even finish...
