My wife and I are regular Scooter’s coffee customers, and we partake of several locations on multiple visits per week. Unfortunately, Ankeny only has one location and this is also where we live. Our frustration is that this location on SE Oralabor Road is so inconsistent. For instance, we stopped at this spot yesterday morning, Saturday Aug 30, and we both had very good coffee and Americano. We each have very specific orders. I opt for a dark roast coffee, and my wife always gets a hot Americano with extra half & half.
Now these are not complicated orders, but too many times I will get coffee that has a bit of flavor, as if the grind has gone through a grinder used for flavored coffee beans. This changes the flavor, and in my opinion, not in a good way. I rarely return to complain, as it is an inexpensive purchase.
My wife always orders the Americano hot, and it is too often weak, or cooled down because of the added half & half, or not enough half and half was added. She asks for extra but many times it is lacking, or too cold when added, or whatever. Her orders are not as inexpensive but still relatively simple. She claims to get consistent quality Americanos from another location in Urbandale, without issues on her way into work.
This is all to say that Ankeny is in need of better quality control on their service at the only Scooters we have. I work in Ames and use both locations there and most times have no issues at either one.
Please look into this and try to improve.
