Stopped in for breakfast on our way back to Kansas.

I have eaten her many times in the past 2 years. This is the first disappointing visit.
1) Arrived for dinner tonight, waited almost 10 minutes before waitress came.
2) Asked for coffee,and Milk.
Got very old coffee,worst I've had,and no milk.
3) Waitress came back for my order, told her to take coffee,as it was as I stated. Got a root beer. Ordered a patty melt. Hardly any onions,and very greasy.
4) Waitress never checked on me till she brought the bill.
Very young girls on their phones.
Very very disappointed.

If you are thinking of eating here I have a better suggestion DONT!!!!!

The waitresses were rude!
The food SUCKED!
and the prices are way too much.
This place will close soon cause people will not put up with it.
If the waitress wants a good tip maybe keep your mouth shut and not talk bad about your customers until they actually leave the building.
I asked the waitress if the tenderloins were good and she said “oh yes”
They were frozen show leather.
This is a great location for a restaurant-to bad this place doesn’t qualify as a restaurant in my eyes

Felt out of place as soon as I walked in. Both girls on wait staff seemed mad at the world. Food was good but expensive for how little you actually get. Service was slow. Was delivered the bill before I was finished eating, which I generally appreciate so that I can leave as soon as I’m done, however I was less appreciative when waitress took my receipt and saw I had wrote a zero in the tip line (because I intended to tip cash) and thought it was good to run back to the kitchen and gossip about it. I snatched back up nearly all the tip and put it back into my pocket. I know dealing with people is less than ideal sometimes but save your comments until I’m at least out the door! Just a reminder that tips given are based on quality of service!!! Tips are EARNED not a given.

This is a great roadside diner. Don't expect high-end decor but the dishes served to my family were all great portions, hot and delicious. Looking to walk away full and satisfied, swing in and put out your hunger fire at Embers!

Had a new chef training, so obviously need to be mindful on the possible lack of experience... Taste was great... My omelet slightly runny all the way through. My feedback to him was to be mindful and cook them a little bit more...

My family is originally from the Ames area, but we stopped in for breakfast while traveling back home to see relatives as county fair season is beginning to start. We have a niece who shows cattle and with her county’s fair starting this coming week, we came to help her with finishing touches. We were blown away by the sweet and quick service we received. Marcy?? Maybe?? was our waitress and even though it was quite busy, she was accommodating everyone’s needs and always made sure my husband’s coffee was topped off. The food was incredible especially the hashbrowns, they were golden and crispy, just like they should be. My son loved his chocolate chip pancake and it was HUGE. The food was served to us quickly which gave us a full- belly for the long day we had ahead of us. From the hashbrowns to the pancake, I can’t forget to mention my perfectly delicious breakfast combo, the sausage was juicy and the eggs were perfectly over-hard. The service was a 10/10, our lovely waitress was a 10/10, and so was the food. My family and I will remember this place as we travel through for future reference.

Easy off and on the highway. Good access. Older restaurant. Good service. Good food and clean. Lots of parking for truck and trailer. Going to go back for dinner!
