“My husband and I stopped here on a cross country trip and we were very impressed. We both loved the cheesy potato sausage soup and Mac and cheese. We got to the restaurant around 4:30 pm and we were the only ones there for a bit. Lauren G was our server. She was very attentive and apologetic when we had a bit of a wait due to prep work not being finished at the time we ordered. When my steak came out over cooked she offered to have it remade and taken off the bill. I was not expecting anything comped in fact I just asked her for more soup and to call it even. She reduced the bill for the wait and comped my steak on top of getting me a bowl of soup. Definitely will be back next cross country trip.🥰”

“8 of us stopped by about 20 minutes before they were going to close. The cashier/cook was so glad we stopped by. He took all of r orders then told us it might take a bit since was also the cook. Food came out real quick and all was delicious. From cheese steak,pizza and wings they all were good. Place was spotless along with restrooms. 10 out of 10!!”

“⭐️ THIS PLACE ROCKS ⭐️ -and I’m really mad at myself now… I’ve stopped in Walnut IA many times on my CO-WI-CO roadtrips, always turning south to the gas station & Econolodge hotel, oblivious to this gem of a diner just 1/2mi north. Found it last night, Mon 8pm… I thought “probably closed.” Nope. Open till 9! Walked in & was immediately impressed with the size, sports decor, & friendly staff. Owner Kyle welcomed me to a bar seat and noted the $10 Special chicken plate w/2 sides; then I saw the beers on tap & realized the BACKFIELD is doing it RIGHT in the sticks of Iowa 👍🏼 The menu has 3x more items than I woulda’ expected. The tables, bar & bathrooms = CLEAN. Btw, the chicken special… tastiest chic breasts I’ve ever had, honest 😋 I’ll be planning all my roadtrips now with a stop here for food/drink. “We went there for my stepson's memorial side by side ride. We called them in advance they had sandwiches and stuff to eat if you wanted. The service was amazing I don't think any of us waited very long to get a drink or food or whatever. They did an awesome job we'll definitely go back.”

Talked to the manager and told him that I was really impressed with the store.Looking so nice, all the shells were so stocked and just perfect.And the food was, well, it wasn't the best selection but it was really good food, so I don't know, I guess a 9 out of 10. No, let's do 10 out of 10.They couldn't have got much better.The only thing that would have made it better was nice , warm weather. And sin.
