CR Midnight Smoker BBQ

Very friendly staff and a well taken care of establishment! But above all else, the food was FIRE. I had the beef brisket sandwich and I swear I could eat like 5 of those bad boys and still want more. If you enjoy bbq you will not be disappointed with this place!

Absolutely phenomenal! Had the brisket (and thank you for the burnt ends!!!), pulled pork, and wings. All great. Staff was awesome, too. Highly recommended!!!

Happy birthday to me ...kinda price but prtions are hot resh tasty ..they need a bread item corn bread or rolls .. lots of seating staff friendly and very clean

Need different sauces

First off, we waited a few weeks to finally try this place and although I wouldn't say we were disappointed, I may have been expecting more with multiple reviews saying it's the best BBQ they have had. I'm glad we have another BBQ place, sad we lost CRL, one of the better music venues in town. Back on topic. We got brisket, wings, baked beans and mac & cheese. They were all good but not great IMO when figuring in taste/price/portion sizes. Little overpriced for what we got, I prefer Up In Smoke personally as I feel like price to portion size is very good and I thought it tasted better also. Again, both were good I just think Up in Smoke is the best in Cedar Rapids. I really like Pop's BBQ in Iowa City and think it's the best in Iowa. Just my .02

New to Cedar Rapids and we have been trying new places. My girls and I loved it!! Great atmosphere, great service , food was amazing, but most of all the Jazz was classic👌🏿

Literally some of the best ribs I've ever had. I am a huge BBQ fan and have traveled all over the country having great BBQ. The ribs I had would stand toe to toe with anything I've had anywhere. My wife had the brisket which was also very tasty. The variety of sauces was also quite good. The blueberry was amazing in the brisket and I personally enjoyed their sweet sauce in the ribs, but the seasoning on it was so good that it was also good dry, which I almost never say about ribs.

Only negative was the noise. It wasn't that crowded but they don't have any sound baffles up yet so it echoed like being inside a steel drum. Other than that it was the perfect experience.

Best brisket in Iowa. Pulled pork and ribs were a little dry. Very good sauces. Very good baked beans and potato salad. Good value for money. Men's bathroom could use a divider between urinals. A little too intimate for me.

My wife and I went for dinner and the restaurant itself is nice but parking is awkward at best. Once inside the restaurant was nice as were the employees. My wife and I tried the rib sampler that came with three meats and two sharable sides. While the meat had good taste, the sides were very small. We spent almost $45 and didn't even get anything to drink. We left still hungry. While BBQ can be pricey, this place doesn't give you value for your money.

I am going to keep this simple, Cedar Rapids needs this place and so do I!!!

I finally stopped by the new place tonight and the BBQ was on another level, sides were amazing. The homemade sauces are a great bonus.

OMG! Not sure about the rest of the menu. I was only interested in the beef ribs on Saturday. In town working for the railroad. Been all over this country, and this place nailed it! Thank you very much for your passion, and hard work... A 10+

Just ate here for my first time. Staff is incredibly friendly. The food is mediocre. It’s very overpriced for what you get. I paid 28$ for a half pound of brisket, maybe a scoop of Mac and cheese, and a fountain drink. Incredibly lacking in side options. Music is way too loud. I feel that when I leave a BBQ restraunt I should leave full, this felt like I ate a light afternoon snack. I don’t like to dog on small business, but this place could be exceptional, but it has a lot of work to do to get to that point! Don’t understand the hype. Avoid it, for now, there are much better BBQ places in and around CR

This place is great. The food is awesome and the staff is very friendly. Service was quick and food hot.
