Phong Lan Restaurant is a family owned and run Vietnamese place in CR. The place is nice, clean, comfortable, and homey. The service is wonderful; the staff is friendly, sweet, and very helpful explaining the menu or making substitutions. The food is great and very tasty, with a very wide variety. None of us had had this kind of food and we all found something we liked. It is the best Vietnamese food experience in all of Iowa. Specific meals mentioned include combination pho, veggie plate, fresh spring rolls, pho tai, pho ga, chicken fried rice, quadruple delight fried rice, and crab meat rangoons. The broth is great and developed. The check came at a nice time, and they had candy at checkout. Highly recommend giving them a chance to expand your horizons.
