1892 Beer House Bar • $
142 W Broadway, Council Bluffs

“So, my gal and I went here expecting to see a few german beers on tap and some good german food being offered here. We struck out on both! Apparently german beer on tap is not cost efficient? OK. But not a bratwurst to be found on the menu!? Not cool bro! However, our trip was not a waste as 1892 had fresh Stella on tap AND.....wait for it.........in 1 liter mugs ($13)!! The "Spudsters" (i.e. breaded and deep fried mashed potato balls) were to DIE for!! Indulgent, but SO tasty!! The typical bar food (Burgers, sandwiches, DF appetizers) are the food choices here, so if you're looking for German food, go elsewhere. I suspect they MAY be changing their name in the future. I hope so, as the current name is misleading. All in all we had a good time as the DF appetizers were good, the fresh Stella in a 1ltr mug was AWESOME and the bartender was great (More on that later)!!!! This place is more a 'Bar' than anything else. Several TV screens above the bar, sorta nasty bathrooms, concrete bar and very much a "College Bar" vibe. NOT a dining experience However, I will say that the lone bartender (I can't recall his name) on duty (We went in on a Sunday @ +/-2pm) was EXEMPLARY! His timing was impeccable, his attentiveness was spot on, he was very friendly, accommodating and his manners were excellent!! Without this guy, I would've given this place only 3 stars! He was THAT good!!“
