Had A Dong today for an early dinner and it was awesome!!! 10 out of 10, would highly recommend. I have been eating there for almost 30 years and it never disappoints. The menu has something for everyone and is very affordable. The staff is always very nice and happy to see me. I don’t get there often but go every chance I can.

A Dong Restaurant in Des Moines is known for its clean environment, friendly staff, and delicious Vietnamese food. The restaurant offers a large menu with many options, including pho, stir-fry, and vegetarian dishes that can be made vegan upon request. The pho is highly praised for its flavorful broth, fresh herbs, bean sprouts, and tender chicken, making it a favorite among customers. The egg rolls, especially the cream cheese & shrimp variety, are considered fantastic, and the spring rolls are also highly recommended. Visitors enjoy the spacious seating and efficient service, with dishes arriving quickly and well-packaged, whether dining in or ordering delivery. One standout feature is the Vietnamese coffee, which is regarded as the best in the area, along with a unique iced drink with lime and egg yolk that many find surprisingly enjoyable. The atmosphere is quiet and inviting, making it a good spot for social gatherings or a quick meal before events. Many appreciate that the restaurant is accommodating to children, offering kids' portions of pho. Overall, A Dong Restaurant is viewed as a Des Moines classic, with consistent quality and a reputation for serving some of the best pho broth in town.
