We came to this place for dinner. my friend recommended this spot. Well, it was a winning. we were warmly welcomed by the staff and we felt good. The meal was yummy. We enjoyed every moment and we will definitely return to this restaurant. Highly recommended.

I was on hold for 15 minutes, listened as the hostess helped other customer, spoke in spanish a couple times. laughed while speaking spanish, helped another customer, etc. She did everything but pick up the phone and take an order for carry out. I hung up and tried to call back, and nobody would answer. Apparently they don't want business or value customer service on any level.

Ordered the street tacos and flautas. Both were delicious. Especially the flautas. Just like the ones I had in Mexi-cali many years ago. Wasn't looking for a great Mexican restaurant for lunch today, but I think I found one.

Our daughter gave us a gift certificate for hacienda vieja to thank us for house sitting for her. I really like Mexican food and we visit Mexican restaurants frequently in Des Moines. I really didn’t know anything about this restaurant... I probably didn’t have high expectations to be truthful. We enjoyed the best tortilla soup we have ever had. It wasn’t a large bowl but it was packed with chicken, cilantro and vegetables !! Absolutely delicious!! Then we thought maybe we could share something else so we ordered a chicken quesadilla. It was huge and packed with cheese ,chicken and topped with guacamole and sour cream! Yum... couldn’t finish it all... also it was very inexpensive!!

I'm always excited to try out a new Mexican restaurant! That's why I was very interested in trying Hacienda when we stumbled upon it looking for the rooftop bar. Overall I was not disappointed but I was also not impressed. The food was about average for Mexican food in Iowa. However you do get a decent amount of food for the price you pay. Another added bonus is that you can bring food up to the rooftop bar. The service was flawless and the people working there were very friendly and nice. They constantly checked up on us to make sure everything was alright and that we felt comfortable. I'd say the best part of Hacienda was their customer service as I really felt welcomed. My experience at Hacienda was enjoyable. I don't have much to complain about but I also don't have much to brag about. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for Mexican food with rooftop access.

Have tried both locations now. Both locations and over 7 or 8 visits now and never have we had one time where our order came out of the kitchen correct (beans and sauce over everything when ordered without both) and very slow slow service.
