Plenty of people working at the lunch hour, plenty of people expecting food. Long list of sandwich options plus a full list of soups and salads. Knowledgeable and competent people making the sandwiches, and friendly cashier. Fast turnaround for great sandwiches, with a "punch card" program to encourage repeat customers.

Palmers has always been a great experience for me. I’m only in town once and awhile for work but always make it here for lunch. It is conveniently located in the skywalk really close to where I work. The ordering process can be a little hard to figure out when you walk in but after watching a few people I figured it out. Maybe some signs on how it works. They have different sections for sandwiches, soups, and salads. Then you pay at the end. I usually get the chef salad with...

I was in Des Moines for work, and was told by my colleagues that I HAD to try Palmer’s. Specifically for their Wisconsin/Cheddar Soup. I love cheese, so was eager to navigate the skywalk to find it during my lunch break. The restaurant is bright, open and has a good atmosphere. It took me a few moments to understand how to order. After seeing people go from station to station - I picked up on the counter service and then pay at the end. Maybe a little way-finding or instructions...
