We have been in search of the perfect flour tortilla. We have access to authentic Mexican food when we are in Tucson, but other than in restaurants we hadn’t found freshly-made tortillas in Central Iowa. Now that we have discovered Tortilleria Sonora the search has ended. The products are superb, and available at Fareway. Made in Des Moines!
The owner is absolutely fabulous and makes a tortilla like no others! She’s had to change the order of the recipe ingredients, so in the meantime they’re not producing tortillas, and they are not open to buy tortillas at the facility. But, they will be back in Fareway stores soon under their own name. I can’t wait!!!!
Great owners, and great quality food and fantastic work ethic. Definitely the best tortillas made anywhere.
