We tried it at the recommendation of our family we were visiting. Sushi with some different variations. Overall, the food was good. Different taste from the traditional sushi rolls or noodle dishes. We had the Tempura Shrimp and the Shokai Wings. Both were excellent. I had the Matzu Roll. The ribeye added a different flavor profile to a traditional roll. Also had a Shrimp Tempura roll ehjch was very traditional but I thought the rice was a little too thick for the amount of filling. My daughter had the Udon stir fry with tempura chicken which was good. The sauce was a little sweet but the chicken was very tender and juicy. It was very crowded proving how popular it is. Our waitress was accommodating and even moved tables to make sure we could all sit together. Parking was a slight issue as there was no handicap spot near the entrance.Wheelchair accessibility: There was no handicap parking near the restaurant or even at all that I could see. Once inside, the tables are packed very close together and there is no room for anyone with mobility issues, especially a walker or wheelchair.

Great sushi! will go back again, They also have a food truck if your lucky enough to come across it! My Son loves this place and will go every chance he gets!! Staff there are very accomidating. I asked to leave off the eel and they did so without a twitch.

Walked it, was seated fast, we had been ready to order, but then 2 other couples that came in shortly after us both had their order taken before us. They had quite a few people, but didn't seem extremely busy. The girl who seated us was nice and friendly though! We got tired of waiting and seeing the couples after us get their food so we walked out. Also their location is not where Apple Maps says it is we drove up and down the street a few times before realizing it was on a different street.

Son from Spokane Wa came to visit and our 1st time to dine there! Both of us were impressed with the waitress,staff, atmosphere,menu options, and delicious food!?
They denied me and my hearing service dog entry.I love Shokai, the sushi is amazing and the servers have always been polite and attentive. It's been my favorite sushi place in Iowa for over 10 years, but I have gone completely deaf in the last year and I recently got a hearing service dog so last night was our first time at Shokai since getting him. My fiancé and I were denied entry even after explaining that he's my service dog.He's still a little young, but he's fully trained and extremely well behaved. Not once have we had an issue with him in other public restaurants, stores, venues, etc.Luckily my fiancé and I are kind people and don't like confrontation, and the restaurant was packed, so we just left without pushing the issue further. But needless to say, I was very upset and my service dog and I have legal rights to enter facilities together at any given time without hassle.

Average sushi and expensive. Would not recommend the yokisoba. Odd taste and noodles were chewy. Expected the shrimp to be stir-fried with the yokisoba, but they were deep fried. Also, vegetable mix was 85% broccoli.
