El Señor Cactus Authentic Mexican Cuisine

We loved our lunch, this is definitely going to be our go-to restaurant when visiting our son. The choriqueso dip is perfect. We also recommend the Crazy Chicken, Chicken & Rice, and Shrimp & Rice. Portions were generous, prices are reasonable, service was good, and beer was cold. Thanks, Senor Cactus. 😀

The pork burrito ended up like a burnt end burrito, which was quite a treat. That's a BBQ thing if you aren't familiar. Top notch.

It's probably too picky, and maybe I was hangry, but the one waitress walked right by us several times without even saying we'll be right with you, or acknowledging we were waiting for a table. Food was served promplty, was delicious and hot. Maybe it was a language barrier, maybe they were understaffed. I will definitely go back. Even with the service we had, the food was incredible and she kept our drinks filled.

I've gone here too many times to count and the food has been fantastic every single time. This has become one of my favorite spots to go with my partner and I love the chill atmosphere. The plants throughout the restaurant are so nice and I love the rotating decorations throughout the year. The prices are also very reasonable.

I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a Mexican restaurant within the Iowa City area. Thank you, El Señor Cactus, for making several special weekends for us!

Super quick service

Ordered on insta cart. Paid for chips and salsa but they didn't send any salsa with it. The chicken and rice didn't have any cheese sauce on it. The tacos didn't have any cilantro or onions on them even though it has cilantro and onion in the picture. The Sancho burrito didn't have any guacamole like it had in the description. Will not be ordering from or visiting cactus ever again.

Went in today because we were feeling Mexican food. Board inside restaurant said “today’s special: tacos $1.25” so we each ordered 4 tacos. Ate and were happy dispite chicken tacos being drippy watery, steak tacos were good.

Go to check out and the tacos were 3.75 each. Brought this up to our server and three women came over and started arguing, that’s only the ground beef taco, blah blah blah. Board does not say ground beef taco, it says tacos. No distinction made. Instant hostility leads me to believe they have had this confusion happen before and refuse to change their board.

Beware bait and switch. Food was fine but not good. Definitely not worth dealing with the bs.

Great food and taste I’ve really enjoyed the Molcajete and Beef broth, Highly recommended

Food and service was great! My burrito was delicious and exactly what I wanted. My wife's el pastor looked like a picture. It was beautiful and scrumptious. We finished our meal with churros which were fresh, hot, and perfect. You need to give this place a try.

Great tasting food but can never get our order right when we get it delivered. I get the carne asada tacos and they forgot the onions, pico, green sauce and gave me flour instead of corn tortilla.

I ordered chicken fajitas. There was enough food for 2 people and it was very good. The server wasn't very friendly - a little snippy when I said excuse me b/c I couldn't understand what she had said. Most likely will return due to the food. ?
